Talk about an open ended question. Alert can mean a variety of things:

1. A town in Nunavut (a territory of Canada).
2. Amber Alert - same as the Amber alerts in the United States
3. Wind Chill Alert - extremely cold winter weather conditions. Toronto area has been in one of these for the past few days with no end in sight.

These are the first 3 that come to mind and I'm sure there are many others.

An LRT is a light rapid transit system. - public transportation, in other words. Alert also means to pay attention or to be prepared. We have weather alerts, just as other countries do, forest fire alerts, road condition alerts, etc.
