But how are there discoveries of human bones and things like that from over 15,000 years ago... does this not disprove the existance of a god?

It's the best choice for *some*people. And it's usually education that makes people begin to have serious doubts. I had doubted all my life, but once I got older and more educated is when I became an atheist. I know you are probably confused right now and yes it is understandable to be a bit afraid. Just keep soul searching and follow your heart. Read the bible and also read "The God Delusion" by Richard Dawkins. Good Luck and feel free to email me with any questions.

First off, let me point out that 'science' can never prove that there is no god. Science is only a way to learn about what can be seen or observed.

Now to you question, to state it another way: Is there an advantage to believing in God or Not.

One advantage of believing in God is the hope of eternal life in Heaven. Atheists live with out such hope. Of course they live with out the fear of Hell also. Some would say that Heaven and Hell cancel each other out.

I believe the real problem of living life as an Atheist is you deny your true identity as a child of God with a purpose and greater value. If there is no god then there is no point to morality or Love or beauty. If you don't believe in God you have to ask your self is there any reason why you shouldn't rape someone, or kill someone or spend their money if doing so might gratify you in some way.

I know there are many atheists who may seem to have moral values, but those values are held over from a past belief in some God some where and though they certainly gain a benefit from those values, they are not being intellectually honest about were they come from.

Honey, NOBODY on this forum can help you with this dilemma. You need to "study to shew thyself approved". You will either come to one conclusion positively, or the other. You aren't there now. Being raised Christian doesn't "make" you one, you know. It's a personal choice we all have to make. There is NOTHING wrong with skepticism! God can handle it. Don't you think we were all skeptical before becoming believers? But asking advice for this kind of decision on a public forum is NOT wise. YOU need to make up your own mind.

I pray you'll make the right one.

God bless you
xx

Well, if athiests are right, what good does it do them? To them, we'll just die anyway, so what does it matter what we believe while here?
I personally believe in God. I remember a time when I questioned his existence, but when I honestly brought the question before him in prayer it was a pretty strong answer (no angels or anything, but it was very strong). I know prayer isn't the answer to everything, but it's certainly worth a shot for you. Honestly go before God in prayer. Perhaps your answer won't come right away, but if you're honestly searching, you will reach it some time. To be honest, I think prayer is the guide to all truth. So much in the mind is clarified through honest prayer, and I've come to understand more through that than through anything else. Even in science. God created science. All truth exists, both spiritual and physical. Science, unfortunately, has finite man interpreting it as fininte man also interprets religion. There is a lot science can't answer without God. But with God, the science that is true makes sense.

If you changed your mind about God because of science but you are having trouble letting him go, you should look into Deism.

Deism is the belief in a Supreme Being based on nature, reason, logic, and science. There are no dogmas, creeds, or ancient texts created by man. It is just what you find out about him using your God given talents. God was the original scientist, and science is the study of God's creation. There is no reason that science and God cannot go together. God's law is the eternal and unchanging law of nature. Everything that God wants us to know about him, he put in his creation. People are looking for God in all the wrong places, God is within and all around.

Yes it is. I'm glad that the study of science has opened your eyes to reality. I'm confused by something though. How did you 'decide' to disbelieve god? I don't know about you, but I can't choose what I believe. I arrive at conclusions based on logic and experience. Those conclusions form a framework for what I believe. There's no way I can choose to believe in something if I'm not convinced of it by evidence and reason. How did you?

Say, like you are approached to buy a life insurance for illustration. You are considered a fool to waste your money as premium for the insurance for no benefit for yourself but for your beneficiaries. But you believe that is a kind of love you want to leave behind for your beneficiaries that they don't go in lack.

So if you believe in God say as Christian does, if God does exist, you are safe, conversely, you are damned. Who would complain you are God believer. You are only laughed or mocked for your belief. You can certainly take that. What's more, you can even call those who say there is no God fools as the Bible claims that they are.

But this is not important, you are insured a eternal life and a heavenly abode. Who is the loser?

What is science, the discoveries are things existed for centuries. Who put all these there? No one knows, no one can find out in his life time. This is very sad indeed. But when he finds out, he is found to be in hell, a place God prepares for those who say there is no God.

Are you really an atheist? Do you truly believe that there absolutely cannot be ANYTHING other than what you know? I understand that you do not believe in God anymore, and with good reason.

You have a fantastic opportunity right now. You can look into as many other beliefs as you like without guilt, and decide what choice is right for YOU.

I suggest Taoism, Buddhism or Wicca, as they do not preach hatred and aren't as hypocritical as Christianity. It's your life, take hold of it and do with it what YOU want to!

The way I see it, you don't CHOOSE to be an atheist. In my case, I see no evidence for a god or gods therefore by default and by definition I am an atheist. I do not go out of my way to not worship god. I simply do not "see" one to worship.

The church wants you to fear "god" because that is how they keep their sheep in their flock. You just keep an open mind and search for what you believe is the truth and don't believe everything ppl tell you, Check things out for yourself.

Yes, it is the best, so much so that it's hardly even a choice at all. As you go along you'll find more proof to back you up, just take it easy, life's too short to strain yourself over such things.
