Life is a short journey for the soul. Where u go after depends on how u live while you're alive. The soul is supposed to move on at the end of the journey but some people do things to hold themselves back. The more u think of something/ anything, the more u create a spiritual link to it and this link is only broken after the desire for this (whatever it is) is burnt out. This is why in old age we don't really want to do all those things we wanted to do. The desire was gone.

Some people were so vain of their house or boat etc. that they created 'links' to these objects and did not get the chance to burn it out before they passed on. Others died a tragic & unexpected death which left an impression in time & space. The result of what i'm describing here is known as hauntings, where souls are trapped and can't move on.

Life is like work. We go to work, get the job done and then we go back home. None of us are really from here and we should do the best job we can do before going home.

Well, the Bible let's God's children know how it works by what it tells us Jesus did. When He rose from the dead, His body had changed. You could touch Him, yet He could walk through walls and apear anywhere on a whim! Spirit and yet able to touch if He pleased. The simple reason why your here can be explained by asking the question "Why did God create Adam(the first man)?" The answer is that God made man to be His friend. So what does it take to be a good friend? Your heart, soul, body and emotions and espescially your spirit have to love Him and do what He wants. In the beginning we only existed in the thoughts of God. Before the World was formed...He knew you. He made you and knew every decision you would make, bad or good. I hope I've helped you and may God place His name upon you and give you peace.

I believe as a christian that we go to Heaven after death. There is a purpose for everyones being on Earth and many people don't yet know there purpose, my youth minister says "The Purpose Driven Life" is an excellent book on this subject. Before we came into life as we know it now, the Bible says we were with God, but we just can't remember.

Different people believe different things. I can tell you my perspective, which is based primarly on the Bible and the beliefs of Christ followwers.

I don't think anyone knows how our souls will feel, but the Bible says if you go to Heaven you will get a new body and God will wipe away every tear, so those will feel pretty good. :)

The reason for living is to love God and try to be more like Him. Jesus said He wants us to have "life to the fullest." God made us to be His.

The Bible says if you haven't asked Jesus into your heart and made Him your Lord and Savior, you'll go to Hell. God made Hell for Satan and his demons, but Satan brought sin into the world to seperate from God and force us to go there.

The Bible says the life of something is in it's blood, so I don't think we were anything before the blood entered us (8 days after conception.) I'm totally sure on that one, though.

I'm sure other people will give you perspectives from other religions and faiths. :) Hope that helped.

Jesus Christ spoke about the condition of the dead. He did so with regard to Lazarus, a man whom he knew well and who had died. Jesus told his disciples: “Lazarus our friend has gone to rest.” The disciples thought that Jesus meant that Lazarus was resting in sleep, recovering from an illness. They were wrong. Jesus explained: “Lazarus has died.” (John 11:11-14) Notice that Jesus compared death to rest and sleep. Lazarus was neither in heaven nor in a burning hell. He was not meeting angels or ancestors. Lazarus was not being reborn as another human. He was at rest in death, as though in a deep sleep without dreams. Other scriptures also compare death to sleep. For example, when the disciple Stephen was stoned to death, the Bible says that he “fell asleep.” (Acts 7:60) Similarly, the apostle Paul wrote about some in his day who had “fallen asleep” in death.

The Bible teaches that the dead “are conscious of nothing at all.” They are not alive and have no conscious existence anywhere. The account of Lazarus confirms this. Upon returning to life, did Lazarus thrill people with descriptions of heaven? Or did he terrify them with horrible tales about a burning hell? No. The Bible contains no such words from Lazarus. During the four days that he was dead, he had been “conscious of nothing at all.” (Ecclesiastes 9:5) Lazarus had simply been sleeping in death. John 11:11.
The account of Lazarus also teaches us that the resurrection is a reality, not a mere myth. Jesus raised Lazarus in front of a crowd of eyewitnesses. Even the religious leaders, who hated Jesus, did not deny this miracle.

Think about this too: If Lazarus had been in heaven for those four days, would he not have said something about it? And if he had been in heaven, would Jesus have made him come back to earth from that wonderful place? Of course not!

Yet, many people say that we have a soul, and they say that the soul lives on after the body dies. They say that Lazarus’ soul was alive somewhere. But the Bible does not say that. It says that God made the first man Adam “a living soul.” Gen. 2:7, Adam was a soul. The Bible also says that when Adam sinned, he died. He became a “dead soul,” and he returned to the dust from which he had been made. The Bible also says that all Adam’s offspring inherited sin and death too.

The Scriptural teaching of the resurrection, however, is not compatible with the doctrine of the immortality of the soul. If an immortal soul survived death, no one would need to be resurrected, or brought back to life. Indeed, Martha expressed no thought about an immortal soul that was living on elsewhere after death. She did not believe that Lazarus had already gone to some spirit realm to continue his existence. On the contrary, she showed her faith in God’s purpose to reverse the effects of death. She said: “I know he will rise in the resurrection on the last day.” (John 11:23, 24) Likewise, Lazarus himself related no experiences of some afterlife. There was nothing to report.

Clearly, according to the Bible, the soul dies and the remedy for death is the resurrection. You enjoy the best sleep ever, until Jesus resurrects you, sometime in the future.

I believe we will be able to feel our emotions, etc., but not to do the physical things we can do here until we are resurrected.
We did exist before we came here.
We came here to obtain a body and experience, to make choices, and to become perfected through Christ. We are God's spirit children (literally--we were his children in sprit before he gave us bodies). Kindof like growing up. That's why we're here. To become something better than we are.

To turn this on it's head, 2000 years ago someone said that understanding this was finding out "who we were, what we have become; where we were, whereinto we have been thrown; whither we hasten, whence we are redeemed; what is birth and what rebirth"
