Allergies and eye contacts problem? If you have both help me!!!?

I have major allergies that affect my eyes tremendously. My eyes get irritated and red due to my allergies and me wearing contacts. I need to wear contacts, what should i do to reduce the irritation that i get in my eyes due to the contacts and what should i do to reduce how red my eyes get due to the contacts also.

I need to know what kind of contacts i need for my situation and also if i should take any eye drops for my eyes and at what times during the day should i take these drops.

When it comes to your eyes...your VISION, don't take chances. Too important. I have allergies, contacts and astigmatism...so I know this is no picnic.

Your eye doc may find you to be a candidate for laser eye surgery. The medical advancements in that have made the surgery easy, painless, affordable...even MY eye doc finally did it. That could alleviate one of your problems and get those contact off your eyes.

Or you could wear glasses, too. I alternate between the two when my contacts just won't go in.

Most allergy problems associated with CL's are not actually due to the CLs, but to the solutions you are using with the CL's. This is because patients normally develop an allergy to the preservative in the solution. If you use a CL solution that has no preservatives, you wil be home free. 80% of the time, this solves the problem. I'd be willing to bet that you are using a preserved solution like Renu-- or worse, some generic. THAT'S your problem.

This is what I would recommend to my patients: (First of all, I hope you are wearing disposable CL's-- there are less allergic problems associated with them!) What you need to do is either open up a fresh new CL or "purge" your old CL's. You do this by soaking it overnight in a hydrogen peroxide based CL solution (more on this below) over and over again for three times.

Hydrogen peroxide based solutions are known by their brand names of AOSept, Clear Care, One Step, or UltraCare. Follow the instructions on the label (or e-mail me if you have problems). Use it for three full times without wearing the CL's unless you are using a fresh pair.
