The doctor is obviously worried about the financial cost you would bare by seeing a specialist.
Usually you OBGYN can handle the situation especially if they know your history. I would recommend you talk frankly with your OBGYN and ask his/her opinion.
Seeking a second opinion is always a good option especially if you are not comfortable with the advise or treatment from the first one.
Good luck and continued health to you.

You are getting the runaround. I've seen this happen before, where the doctors don't pay enough attention until the cancer is very serious, and then they can make money from you or your insurance company. The only problem is that it is hard on YOU.
Cancer is a $1.1 trillion a year business in this country, and the system is set up to suck the wealth and life out of the American public. Only 1 in 3 people with cancer live for 5 years after diagnosis, and that number hasn't changed significantly in the last 30 years, despite many billions being spent of 'research' every year.
I have cancer now. I'm disgusted with the system, and have turned to alternative medicine since my doctors have told me there is no hope. Bitter? Hell yes, I am--and my anger has motivated me to learn about repressed natural methods of disease control
You are just starting in the meat grinder right now, and I strongly urge you to look for an answer besides artificial drugs, surgery and radiation. Here are some books I have read from cover to cover, that are now helping me to survive way beyond my doctors' grim predictions--
"The Cure for All Cancers"
"A Cancer Therapy"
"Oxygen Therapies"
"Hydrogen Peroxide--Medical Miracle"
"The Natural Cure for Cancer--Germanium"
"Killing Cancer"
"Natural Cures 'They' Don't Want You to Know About"
There are many other good books about surviving this disease, and you should know about this option, even if you choose to go the traditional route with it's abysmal prognosis. Best of luck.

If you are 'afraid' because the oncologist 'dismissed you' with just a prescription, then you certainly may 'consult' with another oncologist, or even two ... but I would BEWARE, because there is 'no such thing' as 'stage 0 breast cancer' ... and no good doctor I know of would simply prescribe 'Tamoxifen' or any other drug for 'cancer' and not talk with the patioent about EVERYTHING that could or should be 'done' for her cancer. SEE A DOCTOR NOW and don't wait becuase if you 'do' have cancer it needs to be treated as soon as possible, and if you were 'misprescribed the drug' or you don't even have cancer, you deserve to know what is GOING ON WITH YOUR BODY.

If I were you I would seek another opinion, as tamoxifin, is nothing to play with.An oncologist deals with tumors, and if you do not have a tumor and no cancer, I do not understand why you are on tamoxifin. My first wife had stage 4 breast cancer, and because of an unusual hormone problem, she was given tamoxifin, to try and shrink the tumor, but it did not work, as my wife was to far advanced, in her cancer. I did read that there was a slight chance that tamoxifin, could increase a tumor and advance the cancer, but again I can not prove that fact, but it sure did not help my wife, who finally lost her battle. Please get another opinion. Good Luck.............
