What if your boyfriends family only speaks Spanish how will you be able to communicate with everyone? I only speak English and got invited to his familie's wedding and I think I would feel akward 'cause I only speak English and I just want them to like me,but I don't think I'll be able to communicate with his family. I know my boyfriend will be able to translate for me,but I just don't want to feel out of place? Thanks!!!

Go anyways. If your boyfriend invited you, he probably wants you to come. You're not going to learn spanish overnight, and his parents are not going to learn english either. What have you to lose? You'll be with your boyfriend; and he wants you to come.

My step-mom only talks English, but my whole family on my dads side only speak Spanish.... All she would do is smile the whole time and just let my dad translate for her... But that was 14 years ago and now she understand what they say and my dad and i talk to her in Spanish... Just have he teach you a few things and you'll get the hang of it... If you know English then it shouldn't be hard to learn another languish and plus its good to know also! Good luck!

Just learn a couple key phrases that you'll probably say a lot, like thank you, please, i don't speak spanish... your b/f should be able to help you out after you figure out what you should be able to say. If they know you don't speak Spanish and that you put forth an effort to learn some words, then they'll appreciate it.

Well you not going wont help the relationship. His family wants to meet you and I am sure he has told them you do not understand. If he has and they know they do not care. Just go because you will still be with him and still be able to meet the family. Just go with an open mind and not worry about the small things.

wow your in deep trouble...lol....you should stay quiet and just smile at everyone there then when someone is trying to approach you then go look for your boy friend or just stay with your boyfriend or maybe you should ask your boyfriend for some help on how to speak spanish then take a spanish class..

Girl don't even worry about it all u have to do is ask him to teach u some words in Spanish that way you'll be learning about him and family while spendin time with them also.

Find a local place that offers Spanish classes. I'm learning it right now, and honestly its a very easy language. Until then buy a dictionary to start translating what you can.

oh mannn that sucks for you ... my bf is puerto rican i went over his hosue for the superbowl.. they all talked about me in spanish and i couldnt understand what they were saying i felt so stupid.. they were nice they said they liekd my dress and my hair was nice but it was stil weird i mean they coulda been like shes effin ugly and i wouldnt of known.. just dont talk a lot cuz itll be awkward, they will mostly smile at you after they find out who you are and maybe tel your boyfriend to say how are you or something like that.. good luck

well you can show up and have your boyfriend teach you a few words to say at the right moment and dont get caught up in engaging conversations with them and if you do have your boyfriend beside you to translate GOOD LUCK!!

well i mean you can always learn spanish it'll be really easy to catch on and i'm sure your B/F would love to teach you!!! But just try using motions and stuff if hes not around or stuff like that
