this girl asked this guy if he liked me and i think he thinks that i like him now, but i dont and i dont want him to feel weird around me like i want him or something. how could i tell him but make sure he doesnt think i am trying to cover the truth or something

There's no certain route, what might work for one person will humiliate another. Make light, but in private, don't be doing it in front of others.
But on the other hand, I'm thinking "the lady doth protest too much" If this is taking up so much of your brain time, I'm tempted to think you're not as cold on him as you claim...

The only thing you can do is talk to him. And tell him that you are not interested. Let him know that you appreciate that he may like you, but that you just dont feel the same way about him.
The last thing you want to do is lead him on..
or let this attraction to you increase more and more..
it will only cause problems in the long run..
just be up front about it.

Get him into other girls (maybe recruit his mates on this)
help set him up with others or get him thinking about other girls... making you more mate
