No it is not.It is close though Kerosene is considered heating oil.

Never heard of "Diesel gas" - they are two different things - however Diesel engine fuel, also called Diesel #2 yes IT IS the same as home heating oil. You can also use Bio Diesel in any concentration up to 100% for heating oil and engine fuel.

I don't think so. I base this on my experience living in the middle east. There, diesel gas is regular gasoline treated with a special oil that allows it to be exploded easier under pressure. Heating oil is the same as kerosene. It comes from a different process in the overall cracking process in petroleum plants.

The diesel fuel would work in the heater but the heating oil would not work in a modern diesel vehicle.

They will both work in a car. In Europe they put red dye to mark it because the tax is not so high on heating oil.

If you have a nice car I would buy diesel, it must be cleaner and it probably has less sulfur so it smells better. It may also produce less soot.

They are the same, and yes you can run a car off of it. Here they put a red dye into it. It is against the law to do it. But, it will work just fine. I have known many people who have done it, some that run heavy equiptment with it.
