well, technically people "can" start dating whenver they want to... depending on restrictions sent by authority figures.. and whether or not they obey them. now, when do i think they SHOULD start dating? i think supervised/group dates are okay around 14/15 and single dates around 16/17 depending on the maturity level of the child. and i think the parents should always meet the date before any dating occurs, and get as much info as possible as to where they'll be and what they'll be doing...but you only know as much as your kids will tell you. .but yes, i agree 11 is much too young to be in a relationship. i know of sexually active 11 year olds.. i think its ridiculous. i became sexually active at age 15, and now, i'm almost 21, and i have a 14 year old sister, and i can see now that that age is way too young to be making such serious, life altering decisions

every first time will definitely be hard and regardless of what age you start dating it will still be hard at first. i think that as long as young people stay away from sex (which is almost impossible nowadays).. any age from 18 upwards would be okay.. it doesn't matter if you start too young.. as long as you learn from your mistakes and you know when is the right time to let go.. you'll be fine.. because some people from late 20s still commit mistakes.. and also people from early 16s or even younger also commit mistakes.. i'd say start dating when you know what you really want in life.. because by then you'll be strong enough to face the consequences of dating..

No younger than 16. And I don't think 11 year olds date unless their parents are total idiots!

i'd say 13 at the VERY least!!! but yes, when i was in the 5th grade (11) my best friend then started going out with my best friend now (funny huh?) and they ended up dating from the middle of 5th grade till the middle of 9th grade (he's a year older.. so it was 6-10 for him) and then they realized.. they had become friends more than boyfriend/girlfriend so they broke up and are still pretty good friends. she' s not in our immediete group of friends, but we all go to church together.

but i know my parents said 14... but they needn't have worried because 14 passed a while ago and guess what... i've still never had a boyfriend... im 16... its just sad.

Well as little kids we all had some kind of crush but real dating, as in going out on an acutal date with just the two of you and possibly having real boyfriends and girlfriends. About 15, I think.

16 is a good age to START but only dating with supervision. Much younger and most male kids are only first experiencing the urge for a girl and they don't really know what they want.

I think 14 or 15 is a good age.

well it depends on how mature you are. i am 11 and have a bf and we go out to the movies all the time. if you really like him and you think he likes you go ask him but make sure you're both comfortable. it shouldn't be anything too serious though. just go with the flow and what you think is right.
