i've had depression for a long time - this sounds silly but i sort of don't want to get better.....getting better would mean living my life and i don't really want that. Anyone feel that?

i have been there and living your life is hard work.but life gets better when you find things you want to be alive for.finding true love?kids?little sister?you dont want someone to find you dead do you?think how that person will remember you that way forever.
you need to talk to psych doc if you arent.and if you are tell them you need more help.

Sometimes we stay in a depression or low point. I myself have been there at least 10 years, the last 5 being more anxiety based.
This for me stems from years of mental abuse.

I am talented in so many ways, or so people say... I am a great seamstress, quilter, cook, baker, bookkeeper, screenwriter, songwriter, MOTHER...

But yet nothing I do passes MY INSPECTION.
I have over 100 screenplays just sitting there in my closet... And a low self esteem keep them dusty.
It would be nice if my husband would encourage me.
And it's sad to say I blame him. But before you judge me, read my own questions and particularly the answer to Have you taken back a cheater, this will let you know WHY I choose to live this way.

But seriously, if your young with no baggage, just go meet some new friends, possibly in a support group...
Just don't turn to dope for relief which would actually make it so much worse.

Good luck and cheer up, there are people who have it a lot worse than u or me....

yes i have had that and still at times i feel that i want to go back to the bad ole days, but i have the knowlege that i have come so far and that would just be a waste. You will feel this way for a long time, cause change is a hard thing to except, and work forward too. But it is still the best thing that you can do, so why not go on and try to get better. I know i was where you are at this time, and it was very hard for me too. But even though you think you have to live your life, you are already doing it, so would it not be better to live it a bit happier then to stay where you r now, suck in a runt. Cause that is no way to live your life neither, believe me when i tell you this cause i have been there, and sometimes long to go back, but you can help others too, by going forward and learning , It is worth going forward. So please keep trying to improve on yourself, and reamember, you even living your life right now, but in a negitive way. God bless and keep you safe, and show you how to go forward.

I myself have never been in that situation, but I have a friend who did, and you know she hated feeling that way, because it effect her whole family not just herself. I think you need to get out of that rut because you don't realize that it is effecting your family and they have to walk around you like if there walking on eggs, do you think that it fair to them? You choose not to get better or even try. Do you like being the center of attention? I'm glad my friend choose to get well with medication. So please do yourself a favor and try to get well you know life is worth living.

Its nice to know that you are one less person to compete in the job market. Just say thanks for the welfare dollars you get every month.
