Perhaps booking two seats would be a good idea for your comfort. I am not large but even I feel restricted on a plane. Even if a travel agent tells you that it is not necessary, they may request that you purchase an extra seat when you arrive at the airport as it has been know to happen many times. Perhaps contact the airline you are flying to see if they have any specific policies regarding this issue. Enjoy your trip =)

Weighing over 300 lbs. can make for a difficult fit in a plane seat.
Nowadays, to make more money, the airlines have put in even more seats, making everything even tighter.

a few things you can do:

Contact the airline and see if the bulkhead is taken. The bulkhead usually has 2 seats instead of 3, so it allows you more room. The trade off is that it usually doesn't have a window.

Try to request an emergency exit seat. They also have more room. They are only assigned on the day that you fly.

Ask the airline if the flight you are on is full. On many flights, if they are not full, they allow you to move to an empty row, or at least to a row with 2 empty seats (one for you and one to go empty). If not, see if you can change your travel plans to a day when they are flying empty.

request an isle seat. you can spread out in to the isle if you need to.

See if you can fly first class. The seats have more room.

If you are flying with someone who is close to you, you can seat next to them and then spread out into their area.

Lastly, you can by an extra seat.

Best of luck flying.

Unless you're flying first class, you're likely to feel cramped.

Call the airline. Many, but not all planes are set up so the arm rest between seats can be raised to essentially create a double width seat. That may be your best bet for being comfortable, but you need to make sure you'll have that option.

Good luck.

If you only take up one seat, the plane will have seatbelt extenders if you need one. Unless you have really long legs, you'll be fine. If you take up part of another seat, the airline can require you to purchase an additional ticket. At 350, I don't think it will be needed though.

Southwest Airlines has been made famous by making overweight people buy 2 tickets so they do not make the person next to them uncomfortable.

You definitely will need to use the seatbelt extender.

I would advise that you not fly because (1) you will have to buy a second ticket for yourself in both directions and (2) you will not be comfortable in the seat.

I know someone who weighed 330 and could fit into a single Southwest seat. She needed a seat-belt extension (just quietly ask the flight attendant when you board, or when they pass by your seat). The seat was a bit uncomfortable, but she survived (several trips).

If you can afford it, why not just buy 2 seats for the comfort-level?

We just flew on Jet Blue and there was a couple in the next row, both around your size and they seemed comfortable. I found the plane to be more comfy than all other airlines.

You may have to pay for another seat. Contact the airlines first so you won't be embarrassed on the plane.

Start accumulating frequent flyer miles and someday you'll be able to upgrade to a 1st class seat where you will be very comfortable. In the meantime, many of the others' suggestions are good ones.

I would recommend booking two seats. Southwest is very reasonalbly-priced, and you'll be more comfortable that way, especially if it's a longish flight. They do have seatbelt extenders, so you could probably fit, but it will be tight.
