The redness should go down by tomorrow. try putting something soothing on it like aloe vera gel, or a balm like eight hour cream will help calm it.
This always happens when you wax because you take a good few layers of skin off and it really stimulates the blood flow to the upper layers of the skin.
you may have burnt yourself mildly if you used hot wax.( you said you used wax strips so i'm assuming this didn't happen-but the same advice applies if you have burnt yourself)
Try not to fiddle with it too much and don't worry It'll be much better by tomorrow x

Ice seems like the way to go. And in the future don't wax it, it'll still grow back. Buy facial hair bleach, that way the hairs stay as thin as they are right now. Theres little irritation but it goes away after about an hour or less.

Ha! My sister did this also. First of all, you need to never have your lip waxed again, there probably wasn't even any visable hair there in the first place! Now, you need to go to a certified dermatologist or skin care professional. They will preform a proceedure called acid-wash. This will help get rid of the redness. Good luck!

Why are you so embarrassed to tell your own mother?? Anyways try putting vitamin E cream on it, but when i get my eyebrows waxed they are always red afterwards, it will be gone by tomorrow unless you ripped the skin off, then it will look even worse by tomorrow because it will start to scab, if you ripped the skin off next time you wax make sure you pull the skin tight before you rip of the strip

Next time prep the area with powder so the wax grabs hair rather than skin. Then minimize any post waxing redness with an over-the-counter hydrocortisone cream.

Hold a cold, wet washcloth on your lip for a while. If your mom asks, tell her the truth. She will probably understand cuz lots of people have this problem. Maybe she can help you next time.

I think you should ice it, because what happened was that the blood rushed to your upper lip area. So if you ice it, the swelling should go down and it should be less red.
Makeup, which you don't have, would be the easiest option.
Good luck!

There's this after-shave,after-wax gel called Code Blue and it's really cool and minty, i always use it when i get waxed or get a sunburn or anything. It should be available at a drug store.

I would have bleached it. My friend had the same problem and she went about getting rid of the hair the same way that you did.. and well.. the hair kept getting darker and thicker every time it grew back.

I would honestly tell your mother. Shockingly enough, your mother probably had the same problem. Anyhow, I would honestly consider bleaching it the next time.
