I am starting a dity move with the Army. I know that we are entitled to an allowance to offset costs. I am not sure if this will cover the cost of moving until we get reminbursed, is it possible for a do it yourself to put you in the hole rather than breaking even or pocketing any profit? Any information on all aspects are greatly appreciated.

go to ditymovers.com you can get discounts that are awesome-also call penske truck rentals..they do a great military discount.we got a 26 ft truck origanally for $1160 for $847 after taxes including a dolly and furniture pads!Just tell um you are military. Also...Ive been told that if you go to lowes...fill the truck with cement bags...get it weighed and then take it back and fill the truck normal, you will get more back.

we did a few ditty moves while in the AF, we got an advance to do the move but honestly it was more a hassle than worth it, we thought since we were a family of 5 with lots of stuff we would benefit a lot but u got to hand in receipts and stuff too, so ya might want to rethink all the work and stress and just let the military move it all for ya
