It depends on the monster really. A closet or under the bed monster would probably mostly appreciate a child to eat. If however, if that's not an option perhaps you could leave a child sized mannequin to distract said monster.
If it's a monster like a Godzilla or a Mothra than it's going to want to eat Japanese people.
Vampires like attractive virgins, etc.
