Are they that lacking in comprehension in literature that they would take everything so literally?

that's crazy, especially given how the Catholic church actually debated over what texts to leave in and what to throw out, it's been mistranslated, retranslated, back and forth from different languages,
how could anyone in their right mind take a book so literally which has such a flaky past?
and the OT is the JEW'S holy book and even THEY don't take that crap literally,
so what the hell is your deal?

I think Satan wrote history and that's why some of the stuff doesn't add up. Like no scientific records of the biblical flood...wait, let me snort this coc. and then I'll be able to convince myself that their is scientific evidence of the bibilical flood, then I can tell as many other christians as I can and because of our overwhelming majority and presuppositions than it will spread like wildfire and everyone will believe it.

Ok that's 1 down:

[c/] Biblical flood/ Sceintific Evidence
[ ] Einstein wasn't an Atheist
[ ] Evolution says humans come from monkeys
[ ] Four corners of earth refers to cardinal directions
[ ] They date the fossil by the layer and the layer by the fossils
[ ] Evolutionists killed Bambi's mother.

I trust God. He said not one jot or tittle would change until all is fulfilled. Jot or tittle is like a period or comma. When the Dead Sea Scrolls were found they proved the Bible could be trusted. The Book of Isaiah has been found to be perfect from the Dead Sea Scrolls.

The DaVinci Code is hogwash so if that is where you are coming from you are way wrong. The Catholic Church did a lot wrong, but men were martyred for the King James Translation by the Catholic Church and many believers had copies of the New Testament. Not only the Catholic Church but most Jews had copies of the Old Testament. The Bible was not limited to the catholic church. Today the Bible and the catholic bible are different. The protesting against the catholic church which sprung many protestant churches which interpreted Scripture in different ways, but still all had the same books. The Pentateuch was said to be written by Moses which is Genesis thru Deuteronomy and the Historical Books Joshua - Esther, Poet books Job, Song of Solomon Lamentations, then major and minor prophet books.

By way of the Bible the center and goal of history is Jesus Christ. The Bible is the most contested book ever written and it has stood the test of time and all the testors. My deal is I believe every Word spoken by God in His Holy Bible. When God says the Scripture cannot be broken - I believe God and no one else.

As Apostle Paul said, "Let God be true and every man a liar." I could not have said it better myself.

Much of the Bible was written or compiled by historians like Ezra. A number of books were the chronoligies of the King of Israel and Judah, so they were historical books. No writings on the face of the earth have the documentation that the Bible has. They were not "mistranslated, retranslated, back and forth from different languages". You are just not informed of the history of the Bible. What the catholic church has done to the Bible is something that protestants do not accept either. Many manuscripts that are used in the translation of the Bible predate the Catholic church so that isn't a factor. You need to do some research.

Our deal is God has given us understanding that the OT is indeed HIS WORD. When you doubt that, you will start doubting a lot of the Bible. I am amazed at how many people do not take the Old Testament to be true- Some things YES are symbolic but those stories are real, they did happen. You need to know how to tell symbolism from literal. But there is definately BOTH in the word of God. And what is symbolic is for a reason, to teach us- and it is applicable to our lives, all of it is!

The books of the Torah are the history of a nomadic peoples relationship with their God. The Talmud is the laws and protocols gleaned from the Torah via centuries of study and argument. The "New Testament" is a anthology of memoirs by the earliest believers in Jesus as the Christ.

Chronicles and Kings were specifically written as brief historical accounts of the Kings of Judah and Israel. They were simply summation of the full books, chronicling only the intervention of God. The complete books are lost but would simply have contained every law, decree, military action, etc. performed by each king which would have taken up hundreds of scrolls, which were mostly lost in the captivity of Israel by Babylon, Assyria, and the Persians.

The Books of Moses, Joshua, Judges, Ruth, Ezra, and Nehemiah are also historical as well, pertaining only to the history of God and His intervention with the Israelites.

A lot of history is recorded in the old testament the problem is separating the fantasy from the reality. Why shouldn't they look at their book as history they consider every word of it to be the true word of God. Start thinking like a grown up.

First, the Catholic church is full of BS. In no way should they be taken as the head of the church.

Flaky past? All of those incidents have an explanation.

And Christianity is only Judaism in full bloom. We are the continuation, not a new religion.

The Old Testament is MOSTLY about the Jews coming to need a Savior, Jesus' coming the First time. And it tells of His coming a second time to rule he world for a thousand years. Read Isaiah and Jeremiah! Genesis 3:15, and also the book of Malachi. He was, is, and is to come.
