Money is simply a tool that facilitates the exchange of goods and services in an economy. Evil is something most people consider bad and would not want done to them. Money is not evil, nor is the love of it. I love to buy things with the money I earn. But evil is a question of intent. What does one person intend to do to another person--what harm will he be to that other person? Money is simply a tool that is used by those in power to harm others. That's why it seems that money is the root of all evil when in fact it is those who intend harm to others that is evil.

Money is inanimate. It is the love of money, not money itself. Well, I can see a lot of evil which came from that (any type of drugs, tobacco companies, etc.). But I think pride is. That includes fanatics, money lovers (yes, money lovers because they love $ more than God and plus often the reasons they want money), and any sin I can think of at the moment comes from pride (maybe there's some that don't, but I can't think of any right now).

Money drives people, but the person has the final say on what effect money has. If it wasn't money, something else would take it's place for people to use and hold over your head. People make the decisions.

The "root of all evil" is "incorrect view". Grasping and attachment to ideas, or things that people THINK (incorrectly) will bring them happiness when everything ultimately is really "suffering" and impermanent.
