I would only permit, say, five grams of fat a day, from cereals or bread?

Horrible idea. The body requires macronutrients including fat to work properly.

The body does not store only fat in your body, it converts other foods, sugars and even proteins, to fat within your body. If you feed your body with a 40/40/20 or 40% carb, 40% protein, and 20% fat you will actually lose weight FASTER.

In a word...no. In fact, the opposite may happen in that your body stores the fat in your body, thinking that you are in famine and it might need it later. Also, there are essential vitamins we consume which require fat to be metabolised and so it is actually quite dangerous if you have no fat in your diet. Fortunately it is almost near impossible to eat a balanced diet and not consume fat so its unlikely you will get into any danger. The best thing is to reduce your fat intake as you mention by limiting foods you know are high in fat and low in nutrient. Breads and cereals are good, especially wholemeal and wholegrain varieties. Good fats also come from small servings of nuts, seeds, lean meats, olive oil, avacado. Your best bet to lost the fat in your body is to combine a reduced fat diet with regular vigorous exercise. Good luck!

Honestly our body needs some amount of fat. I would say reduce fats that you can do without like cakes cookies, friedn stuff , the bad stuff. let the fat from dressing and olive oil stay. Its not a good idea to take off fat completely from your diet.
