My ex said I have mood swings and am always hot or cold. I think this is partly true but I think he may just be being mean to me. I don't have really high "manic" periods, I just consider that normal. Much of the time I am depressed though, withdrawn, tired, lazy, eat a lot. When I am feeling "normal" I do have a high sex drive and I like to shop a lot. I also have a bad temper. I am worried these are symptoms but I have no health insurance.

That's a stupid label slapped onto people for one reason or another, most of which are totally unjustified so the psychologists can sell you on more drugs, not a solution.
Has he ever heard of hormones and P.M.S.? Anyway, if you feel there's a real problem there and others have noticed, get some natural health cures for what is ailing you to level out your hormone and energy levels. No big deal. Pray through to God until you find victory over the bad temper. Tell the ex that your moods are none of his business that he has no right to dictate what is in your mind or body since he isn't in it!! He is not genuinely concerned but more interested in control and/or messing with your head to make you feel worthless, insecure, etc.
Nature's Sunshine Herbs and Vitamins and recommendations according to looking up your symptoms (what you feel, not what he thinks) can be found in Dr. Balch's book, Prescription for Nutritional Healing. There's also a chart that will show you the symptoms for common vitamin/mineral deficiencies. God's best for you!

bipolar disorder is used so frequently to explain behavior that it's hard to tell when someone truly has this chemical imbalance in the brain. you must have a doctor, preferably a psychiatrist, diagnose you. is there any type of clinic in your town that has fees based on a sliding scale? you might just have a thyroid problem which can mimic the symptoms of bipolar disorder. don't assume the worst thing first. start with easier things to identify your behavior. are you bored with your job? unhappy in your relationship? stressed because of money...etc...Is there a family member or friend who can lend you the money to see a doctor to find out? I think you should find some way to go and find out for sure. you don't want to end up doing something that could be life altering because you didn't go see what was wrong. find some help and best of luck...

You know when you have been diagnosed by a doctor. You can't diagnose yourself. Most communities have a Mental Health Clinic. Look in the Yellow pages. Call and ask for an appointment. these clinics work on a sliding scale for payment sometimes as low as 5 dollars or even free if you qualify. If you are bipolar you need treatment.

those are all symptoms but the only person who can let you know details is a trained psychologist. There are multiple types of manic-depression (bipolar) so you actually need a professional to diagnose you.

odds are you are bipolar II, you can get some good info at my works website, http://www.sw.org we have an entire section dedicated to our mental health department including details on all types of depression diagnoses and symptom es.

You could be. My sister is bipolar and has many of the symptoms you described, but who knows unless you talk to a doctor, psychiatrist or psychologist. If you are low income, medicaid or other state programs will cover it. If not, it may be worth going to a non-profit clinic and asking how much it would be to get a diagnosis at least.

This is something you really need to have diagnosed by a doctor and not a bunch of people on the internet........Sounds as though you might but maybe you are just miserable in your life and this is the only way you two know to communicate with each other.....I am bi-polar and I can tell you........If someone is really, really close to you THEY KNOW if you are or not.....The general public you can fool most of the time but people who are with you all the time all year long will KNOW your strange!....Trust me I am strange too.....lol......Good Luck!..ss

If you are laughing one minute then totally pissed off you are bipolar. I had a teacher that used to laugh then all of a sudden get really pissed off and start yelling at us.
