I also have severe dog allergies. We have a 6 month old labradoodle and I have been fine. He's an F1B which means he is 75% poodle (father was a poodle, mother was a F1 labradoodle). Get a F1B or a multi-gen. F1 labradoodles/goldendoodles can shed (not as much as a lab or golden but more than a poodle), therefore, I wouldn't suggest getting a F1. Do not buy from a breeder without genetic testing and one that doesn't require spaying/neutering.
They are great dogs, despite all of the misguided anger towards them on Yahoo Answers. They are obviously not allergy sufferers! They should direct their anger to pet stores that sell puppies without spay/neuter contracts and the morons that buy them and try to breed for profit.
I grew up with poodles and they are annoying. I love labs but am allergic. It's the best of both worlds. Good Luck!

Dogs Considered Good For
Allergy Sufferers
If a breed is not listed here, it does not necessarily mean the breed is not a good dog for allergy sufferers. I am sure there are many more breeds that I am just not aware of.
Please note: One person's allergies may vary greatly from another person's. It is always wise to visit the dog to see if you are allergic to it before you bring it home. Hypoallergenic Dogs

I would check with your doctor. Your allergy might not be brought on by the dog but by fleas or a skin condition the dog has.

Bichon Frise, Poodle, Shih Tzu, Soft Coated Wheaten.....these breeds do not have fur, which is where dander comes from, they have actual hair. These are the only 4 breeds that are 100% hair, therefore making them hypo-allergenic.

I have a poodle, and he does not shed. My son-in-law is very allergic to dogs, and my dog doesn't bother him. My friend also has a maltese that does not shed and he's around it a lot too, with no real bothersome symptoms. I have read, though, that the most hypoallergenic dog there is is a Wheaton Terrier. They are also VERY cute.

Sneezing is mainly from dander so maybe you could get a very very short haired dog or something like a Chinese Crested they have very little hair on their heads and ankles which can be kept trimmed short. Good luck.

Try a poodle or bichon frise.....although no dog is completely hypo-allergenic as they all have dandruff and shed, these 2 breeds are very low on the dandruff/shed scale.

Bichon, poodles, maltese arfe suppose to be low dander..its not the hair you are allergic to, its the dander they emit.

The "Chinese Crested" does have some hair ... although I don't know if they'd be suited to someone with allergies regardless.
