I'm too old to even know what A.R. points are, but I can tell you a lot about getting "into the flow of doing homework". That was always hard to me, and was my biggest failing (besides the tests, haahha), but after 3 university degrees, I can tell you that the best way to "get into" the "homework scene" is to just get started, and set a schedule and DO IT!! At my age now, it's like asking "How do I get into the flow of ironing my clothes?" I demand that my clothes be ironed, but I can't stand doing it, but, I won't let my wife be saddled with the chore of ironing MY clothes, so, I eventually get around to it. I'm not saying I do it perfectly now. I've been better at it, but, it's like getting into anything. You just have to do it. Take the first step, and then take the next one, and the next one. I used to be an avid bicycle racer, and as much as I loved bicycle racing, there were times I'd rather NOT have gone out sweating myself to death just so I could go further, faster, BUT, I had to do it if I wanted to be any good, so, I planned my entire day, and, if truth be known, my entire life, around bicycle racing. You really have to do that to be any good. You have to be on an excellent diet and get the right amount of sleep, and drink enough water, etc.. But, I just had to decide to do it, and then follow through with that decision, every day, every week, every month, every year. As I started out my answer, I wasn't good at doing my homework when I was young, and not really much better when I got older either, but, I decided somewhere along the line that I had to have a college degree, and that required a lot of studying, and so, I studied, as best as I could. And I remember one day in class when I was in my first graduate program that, even though I had a Bachelor's Degree, that wasn't going to get me where I wanted to go in life, and so I needed some graduate degrees. And then I realized that I wasn't living at home with mom and dad anymore, and no one was requiring me to go to school, and so, if I wanted to get a good job, I had to go and study hard enough to get "A's", and if I didn't, then the school would just throw me out because I had failed to meet the requirements of graduate school. The school didn't need me as much as I needed the school, and so I "woke up" and really started studying. I just wish I had woken up a lot earlier in my life, and I do so earnestly hope you do too. God Bless you.

I based my strategy on which books were the heaviest.
I did not want to carry books home, so during study hall or the easy classes, I would do the homework from the biggest books. I usually got several books out of the way by the end of the day and only had to carry a couple of small one AND sometimes carry none !
But that was just my strategy . . .

well when i was in 5th grade i knew a girl that had like 197 points or sumthing like that. I think it was because she read a lot of Harry Potter books, and when she wasn't doing homework she was always reading...she was 11.
and in 4th grade, when she was 9/10 she had a lot of points but i can't 'member how much. [ A.R. points]

i guess people ♥ reading!

It's really really easy.

You know those big huge books, that are 4o-5o points a piece? {Harry Potter, etc?}

Read those.

When I did those tests in fifth, I got up to two hundred points from seven tests.

In five days.

I also won the award at my school for best reader because of it... No one ever found out my secret, except for one of my teachers.

Ah, the wonders of reading big, thick books...
