I've served with many Gays and Lesbians and would have to say they are just as good and not better than anyone. I am currently serving and do not like the exclusion of gays, but at the same time, I would prefer that they keep their private life to themselves, as much as I would those who are "straight". Let everyone have a chance to serve their country.

I don't care What your sexual preference is as long as you don't put my life at risk, We have a " don't ask. , don't tell" policy.I will not know if you are GAY if you don't hang out with known Gays. My brother spent 12 yrs as a Pilot in the Air Force. He flew B-52 Over Vietnam. They found out he was Gay when another pilot outed him. He lost his commission, his retirement & got a undesirable discharge. This happened to some one who saw his duty & did it.OH yes the other pilot was also gay & got the same. He wanted my brother but my brother could not stand him He also was a better pilot. He now flies for a major airline.

I was in the military for 10 years and I am a gay man. We were not better or worse than our "straight" contemporaries. We just worked harder and played more discreetly.

Everybody that makes it through "boot camp" has earned the right to wear the uniform. It doesn't matter what religion, sex, ethnicity, or orientation you are. If you make it known that you are gay or lesbian you won't be allowed to go through ( unless they have changed that policy) It is called don't ask don't tell don't show.

There is a process to weed out those who are not up to the standard of the uniform- it's called boot camp. Anyone who gets through that crucible has earned the right to serve their country.

I think they can. I don't think sexual preference should make a difference. It's what's in the mind/personality that makes the person a good or bad (whatever the career choice) Not the sexual preference. What matters is if you have a good heart, and are honest, hardworking, sincere, caring, kind and have good morals.

I would rather have a lesbian in a fox hole next to me. She will actually fight. A pole smoker is too sensitive and will start crying. The Army doesn't make pink rifles.

To me, a soldier is a soldier, they shouldnt say or ask anything special of serving the country. They are no better or no worse, than anyone else serving.Keep personal things out of it.

Why should it make any difference? They are people just like those of us who are straight. Why should they be any better or worse because of their sexual orientation?
