If originally your grand-parents were born in England but your immediate parents are not, you are a British citizen and can therefore play for the nation's team. You can also play for the nation's team by adopting England as your Country of naturalization.

A number of non English have played for the England cricket team.
Hicks, Greig, D'Oliviera. They had qualified by some rule on the number of years in which they had played in England. Of course they mustn't have already played for their birth countries.

Doesn't seem to stop the England 'Men's team' from playing a side that could be renamed the 'United Nations' or the 'all blacks'!!! And that is NOT for their prowess on the soccer field!!!!!
