I have a question on dating?
I was raised very old fashioned and brought up to believe that in the beginning of a courtship the guy should come to the girls house to pick her up and take her to wherever it is that the date will be taking place. Does anyone else out there believe this to be true/a must as well? Or am I just being too old fashioned? I just dont think the girl should be running around for the guy, at least not in the beginning. I've done it in the past and the guys normally afterwards took advantage and had me running around everywhere for them. What do you guys think?

I agree. I think it goes right along with the guy paying on the first date, holding the door open, etc. You can call me old fashion, but I prefer to call it just being a gentleman.

Well I was brought up that way too..I believe in the beginning the girl shouldn't be chasing the guy or anything, guys will have more respect for a girl who has rules...(being picked up for one..) ..my b/f and I lived about an hour away from eachother when we first started dating and so we would meet halfway a lot of the times.. but if the guys your dating lives closer he should drive and pick his lady up if he really wants to see you =) it's just respect.

I've done both - but I took a break from the dating scene for a while and now refuse to settle for less than a gentleman. The guy I'm seeing now does not seem to have any problem with our arrangement and we actually have similar ideas about dating. So, keep looking and I bet you can find one that still believes in old school dating.

Shows his interest in you. Chasing after the guy makes you appear eager and easy and a.h.'s will take advantage of you. Why chase you, if your already in his hip pocket. Believe in yourself, you become more confident of your self as a person, the right guy is going to find this a very attractive trait. The right guy will chase you like a stray puppy! Then again it's the 21st century, things have changed, most not for the better either. You chose, you or him?

I agree with you wholehearedly. I will be raising my sons this way one day when I have them. I believe that they should open the car door for you when you get in and get out. Every door you walk through should be help open by a gentleman. Ladies first, that's the way my husband has always treated me. They should feel lucky to be with you, don't sell yourself short of what you know you deserve, I didn't and I couldn't be happier!!! Good luck sweetie, you'll find the nice gentleman you're looking for one day and be so glad you didn't settle for anything less!

Only he knows how he really feels. But I'd be wary - even if he's telling the truth, you are most likely a rebound girl, someone to help him get over his ex, not someone he genuinely cares about. And be VERY careful about meeting someone from the internet - pedophiles can be very clever about concealing their real identity, and you might arrive at this "party" to discover just one weird, icky, naked old man. Take a parent with you just to be safe.

Hi, your not the only one that thinks like that. I also agree with you. I think that the guy should have that much respect for the girl and her parents and come and take her from her house. I also think that the guy should get to know the girls parents and vicaversa. Dont worry your not old fashoned.:)

It depends on the situation. It's definitely nice to have a guy come pick you up but if you don't know each other well, maybe it's better to meet out. That way if you're not that into him, you won't have a stalker on your hands.
