I usually can get four star hotels for $200, good for NYC, so look on the Internet, plus $100 per night for entertainment, shows. opera what ever you choose. Food, will be according to you tastes breakfasts range from $5-20, lunch 5-25 and dinner $25 or so depending, cabs or subway won't add up to much, I usually walk most places. Transportation from airport; $17 for shuttle $45 for taxi from JFK . So, total it up.

Here's a link for a studio suite at the Affinia for $159 at 7th and 31st.

It really depends on what you want to do. To me $2500 seems like a lot of money. I'd think you'd only need that much if you're eating in VERY expensive restaurants and doing A LOT of shopping. Except at the finest restaurants, food in New York costs about the same as it does in any other city. You can eat very well for $50 or less a day, and you can easily survive on $20. Admissions to attractions tend to be expensive. Most things you might want to see will cost between $10 and $20. If "entertainment" means bars, prices will be a little higher than in most other cities; figure 50% more than what you pay at home. Almost every attraction has a website, so you can check the costs online. Transportation will be cheap if you stick to the subway, which is safe and will take you virtually anywhere you'd possibly want to go. A unlimited ride weekly pass is just $24. For another $10, you can get a round-trip to JFK airport on AirTrain. With shopping, of course, the sky is the limit. There are lots of great bargains in New York, but there's also lots of high value merchandise. Only you know what you're likely to buy.
