According to the Hebrew legend, Satan was an angel, kicked out of heaven for rebelling against God. I'm sure you've heard the story. So that devil, at least, doesn't pre-date Judeo/Christian traditions. But plenty of others do. Many cultures had their "devils", or evil gods. Hindus, Zoroastrians, Tibetans, various African and American Indian tribes, to name just a few. The legend is probably as old as mankind itself. Every culture needs somebody to blame things on, don't they?

Gnostic belief has been around a long time. It claims that
one of the first forms of Life, called Sophia. Tried to create something on her own, without all the other Higher Beings, and a malignant lifeform was created.
It was said to resemble a snake and lightning, and Christ said He saw Lucifer fall from Heaven like lightning!
I'm not sure where story-telling of old and truth become separate.
Humanity has long blamed women for aspects of the feminine
principle of the Lifeforce. Because it flows from the Source of Life, but away from it. Could the story of Sophia just be a story,
as to evil coming into existence as the Lifeforce got further from the Source, and weakened at other dimensional levels?

No. The Judeo-Christian religion has existed from the beginning of time. Adam and Eve worshipped God. It was some of their children that chose to turn the devil into deity.

Egyptian beliefs and all other mythological beliefs came later as people rejected true God.

Yes satan was cast out of heaven before man was even created, because angels as people also have free will and he freely chose to rebel against Gods will and so he was cast down along with other angels that followed him in his rebellion to Gods will.Remember the snake in the garden of eden.

There is no devil in the Jewish religion. There is an angel named Samael, aka the satan, who works at God's behest to tempt mankind, but is not an independent force for evil.

The Christian version of "the devil" comes from Zoroastrianism, not Judaism. Jews believe in an evil inclination, but none of God's children are ever condemned to eternal punishment!

You point out faith, yet you in basic terms provide examples from pre-Christian Judaism. that's rather genuine that many prepared religions incorporate doctrine specifically meant to subjugate women individuals (the Yahweh cults are awesome examples of this), yet to declare that it is the purpose of religion often is proscribing and defective. The Yahweh cults have been patriarchal simply by fact they have been born out of matriarchal societies. The subjugation of ladies individuals grew to become right into a political maneuver. in many cases speaking, prepared religions are structures of wresting potential from the numerous and putting it interior the palms of the few. those few tend to be adult adult males, as adult adult males tend in direction of greater tiers of competitiveness. by glorifying themselves, they glorify manhood, for this reason denigrating womanhood. I applaud your examine and get excitement from the suggestions, yet i've got self assurance that your end is in errors. Characterizing faith as in basic terms an device of male domination ignores a great deal of injustice and diminishes the actuality of church homes' crippling outcomes on definitely anybody and societies.

I know none of them will admit it, but both Judaism and Christianity borrowed material from other religions. Christianity heavily from surrounding pagan religions, and Judaism from surrounding Canaanite religions. The God of the Old Testament is borrowed from Canaanite traditions. In the Canaanite religion there is a supreme God named El. The Old Testament translates the name El to God or Most High. Under EL is the divine assembly of 70 national Gods. The God of the Old Testament is one of the national Gods in the divine assembly. That is why the Old Testament in Deuteronomy 32 says this:

Remember the days of old, consider the years of many generations: ask thy father, and he will shew thee; thy elders, and they will tell thee.

When the Most High divided to the nations their inheritance, when he separated the sons of Adam, he set the bounds of the people according to the number of the children of Israel.

For Yhovah's portion is his people; Jacob is the lot of his inheritance.

This passage makes clear that the Hebrew God Yhovah is not the Most High God. How could he inherit from himself? And who inherited the people of the other nations?
