Army Infantry?

Question

Can colorblind people be in the Army infantry? If they cannot then are there waivers for it? And if colorblind people are not allowed to be infantry how come they get in anyways? I have talked to a lot people in the Army who say that they have at least two colorblind people with them in battle.

MOS 11B,Infantryman 11C,Infantry Mortarman 11D Infantry Scout, have no color vision requirements. You must have sight that is correctable to 20/20 and a good trigger finger.
PS it helps to be socially color blind because the Army is a multi racial multi cultural mixing pot where everybody comes out green.

that was an old army rule before the advent of modern warfare and is infantry because they usually are the only ones used in a situation of frequent possibility of hand to hand or house to house combat. now that there are so many ways to use an individual in the army and the distances between opposing sides in combat these days it is outdated in most army areas but remains it seems a mandate that is selectively enforced.

The only thing you can't do if you are colorblind is fly and electrical work (because it requires the color of wires)

Yes you can be colored blind and be in the infantry. No one is Totally colored blind but rather shade bilnd. My son has been in the infantry for 11 years now, two tours in iraq and he is colored blind!

it would not stop you from being in the infantry but it may stop you from some specialty jobs that are part of the infantry!
