Sounds like it could be a combination of things going on. Grinding the teeth leads to temporal mandibular joint inflammation (TMJ). The joint is located in very close proximity to the ear and many times people mistake this pain for ear pain. Do you have clicking, popping or locking on opening of the jaw? Sometimes a simple night guard can be worn at night to prevent grinding the teeth(bruxism) while sleeping. This may alleviate some of the symptoms. If you have hearing loss as well you have consider the possibility of a ruptured ear drum or infection. This would require a visit to the EENT doc.

As noted, it could be wax, because very often people push the wax in deeper with the cotton swabs until it gets fully packed. Or there could be many other possible causes. You might have a build-up of pressure or fluid behind the eardrum. Once in a while, people have insects that crawl into their ear canals because it is a nice warm place - but then they can't get out.

The point here is that the only way to know for sure is to have your ear examined by a physician.

Yes - bruxism (teeth grinding) can cause pain that radiates into the ear(s) as well as some ringing in the ear(s). However, it is not typically associated with a loss of hearing.

i've had ear trouble all of my life and your best bet is going to the doctor but i will share a home remedy that will ease it up some if it is just an earache warm some sweet oil which is basically olive oil as warm as u can stand it against ur skin put it on a cotton ball and place in your ear it will seep down into your ear canal and u will feel some relief. or a heating pad anything warm a warm rag a hair dryer i've been up at night when i was out of sweet oil with a blow dryer stuck to my ear i feel for u that is some of the worst pain in the world and i've had 3 kids lol. but you really need to see the doc asap to see if it is an infection or what because if your not careful your eardrum can rupture and affect your hearing. good luck

You definately should not be cleaning your own ears out. If wax is persistant then you should see a doctor periodically to have them syringed.
Depending on what you cleaned them with i.e. a cotton bud, my first thought was you have left something in the ear, this would cause a lot of pain because it is a foreign body.
Please get help as soon as possible.

If it hurts worse when you lay down it's probably an ear infection. See a dr. and get some antibiotics.
