I really wanted to win a contest where you had to make something. Well I worked really hard on my entry then I saw the other entries and they were better than mine. How do I get over that I'm not going to win, please don't be mean!

This is a learning experience. Practice makes perfect. I am sure these other people have worked hard and tried many times before this time Just give yourself an A for effort and keep trying to become more perfected in your skills. You won't win unless you try and learning is a part of this. Not everyone can win. We are ll learning growing every day. We can pick ourselves up and keep perfecting our skills or we can give up. I prefer to keep on trying and I hope you will keep trying too. Best wishes.

Try to think about how hard the others worked on their projects too. Try to accept that as much as we want to be the best at everything we do there will always be someone better or prettier, whatever. This doesn't mean that what you did was no good just that maybe next time you'll have to try harder whether by putting more thought into what you're doing, go to the library to get some ideas. Maybe you could ask the other people who had so-called better ideas how they came up with what they came up with.
You also said that you're not going to win...how do you know that? Give yourself credit for what you did and stop being so hard on yourself.

As bmac says...Learn from it.

If you don't win..which you don't know yet, make the experience work to your advantage. See what the winning projects did that you could have done. Gather ideas so that next time you enter a contest, you will be better prepared to do your best work.

You only lose if you learn nothing. Life is all about learning as you go.

Did you make something you really like? Did you enjoy making it? Then you can still be proud of it and pleased with yourself.

The world is full of smart and talented people. You know this because you are one of them yourself. Some of them are always going to do better than you at some things. Everyone wants to win, not everyone can. This is the reality of life and yes, it can make you feel bad sometimes. But hold your head up regarding your own accomplishments.

Turn it around and ask yourself:
would you want the doctor, who is going to operate on your mother's heart, be the doctor who TRIED his best or who IS the best?

Or would you want your pilot to TRY to land the plane, or to ACTUALLY land the plane?

Look at your entry - look at the other entries - SEE why they are better - make your NEXT entry the best.

Do you know who says "I tried my best and I'm proud of my effort"?
Losers and your mommy.

BE the best. That's it. BE the best. Every opportunity is a learning opportunity.

Are you kidding? It hasn't even been judged yet. If you DO lose, let it go. You did your best and that's it. You will win something else. Look at the winning ones and see what you could have done differently. Learn from it.
