So there's this guy who's been dropping all these hints that seem to show that he likes me. He says that he would go out with me, that he thinks I'm funny, that he wishes other girls were as cool as me, that he wants to hang out with me, how he thinks we should go see a movie together, that he'll buy me a puppy for my birthday (not really obviously, but it was a nice gesture), etc. Yet, he often brings up his ex-g/f and now he's talking to me about how he likes this girl and how she's trying to get with someone else and how he's upset about that.
Why does he do that? It's so frustrating.

sometimes we just say things like that to see what ur response or reaction will be.We sometimes feel threatened that the person we like wont like us back.Its pretty hard 4 a guy 2 ask a girl that he really likes the question.Hos r different,theyre easy so we really dont care if they tell us no. I suggest when he brings up another hint, go along wit it. It takes 2 4 a relationship 2 work and blossom.see where it goes from there.(or he could just be waiting 4 u to say something and letting u know that he CAN get other girls.) go 4 it.

I've had situations where women assumed I was dropping hints about wanting to get with them. That was anything but the case. Are you really sure he is dropping "hints?" Some people are also just normaly flirty, so he may not be as serious as you think.

it sounds like he's trying to make u jealous. he's trying to play hard to get. for some reason, guys have a hard time just being open with their feelings, so he's trying not to seem lyk such a softie. when he talks about his ex g/f dont get annoyed, but just brush it to the side, and let him know that ur not playing games. just don't be mean about it.
also, he maybe just rebounding. who knows, he may have had a nice relationship with her and misses what they shared. don't get too sucked in in case u get hurt. good luck!!

It could be because you have show no interest. He says all kinds of nice things...and how do you react? You just go...eh, whatever. However you are reacting, it's not good.

This guy has issues, okay. He might be okay as a friend, but he is definately not boyfriend material.
