My husband and I would like to both be able to watch a movie when we are traveling (airplane) but there is only one plug for the earphone. I have seen USB earphones but I figured I would be up again the same problem. Is there an accessory I could buy to allow me to do this

You can buy a t-junction that makes your laptop available for 2 people. I use it. But make sure that it is a stereo T-connector, most are though.

Go to a electronics store and buy a Y connector.
