My atheism was caused by the fact that I don't believe there to be a God.
My split from Christianity was caused by your posted reason.

My thought is do not bother to ask questions if you already have your answer firmly imbedded in your mind son.
The major cause of atheism is an inability to let go of the safety of "fact" and climb out of a box of into the realm of possibility. It is being blinded by the same log that the Christians are blinded by. Scientist do look for the possible...if they looked only to prove that already proven, there would be no great adventure of discovery.
Yes, there is hypocrisy...on both sides; yes there is blind "faith" on both sides. What there is not is reasonable moderated exchange of ideas and mutual respect. CEE!!

Nope, I think that may be a major reason for the growth in agnosticism. God knows it has contributed to my disbelief.
But I think Atheists, just don't believe that God exists because they can't see any proof of that existence. The fact that many christians are not true to their beliefs, doesn't mean much to an Atheist who just doesn't believe.
Christians who profess Jesus with their lips and deny him with their lifestyle are just hypocrites. There are plenty of those, but not one of them is educated enough to persuade an Atheist to change their belief system either way.

Reading the Bible.
First, you see that the nonsense the Church teaches really doesn't match what is in the Bible.
Second, you see just how ridiculous most of it is; There is a reason most of the Bible isn't used by most Churches, and that is because it is embarrassingly ridiculous nonsense.
Third, you begin to notice the repetitions of stories, but with different endings, multiple creation stories attributed to different 'gods' (there are several gods in the Bible. It is only through a trick of translation that they are homogenized into one i.e. LORD and GOD instead of EL and YAHWEH, two very different gods.), inconsistencies, blatant contradictions, and the stupidity of most of the Bibles claims and assumptions.
If there is a 'god', it certainly isn't any of the myriad of middle eastern tribal gods described in the Bible. They didn't even seem to know that plants require photosynthesis or that the sun came before the earth.
Not one piece of useful knowledge is revealed in the Bible, at least nothing that everyone else didn't already know without reading it.
Ask the Chinese.

Yes I agree to that too- I also agree Romans 1:25 says why many do not believe.
But yes, we who are saved need to be living a godly lifestyle- always setting a good example, and I know sometimes it's hard in this day and age to always be "cheerful" and kind- but we must strive to be- and only Jesus living in us can get us there! Any good in us is Jesus Christ living in us!

1/2 True. I disagree with the Christians part being #1. I'd put that at a close 2nd to believability.

The number #1 cause of aethism is Christianity. Whether it's reading the Bible, the lack of any proof, the false Christians, or the massacres done in the name of God, I think the nuber one cause of aethism is Christianity.

I don't think so. I think the number one cause of atheism is the fact that the teachings of Christ conflict with someone's own desires. Many people decide that they would rather deny that God exists, than to give up their own little personal sins, or even admit that their vices are sins.

My number one reason for no longer being a Christian is the Bible itself. The behavior of Christians is number 2, or 3, or maybe 4.

Not true.
The number one cause of Atheism is the sheer lack of evidence of your God. The above is a close second. Your asinine questions are a third.
Ill tell you what Ive told you before Doug - you are not sorry for anything. Your apologies are hollow, as you constantly poke and prod at us, then try to whisk it all away with an apology. Sorry the truth hurts.
