I took good care of my hair, and it grew to be pretty long. If you know how to take care of your hair it will grow as long as you want it to. And sweetie, it's "how DO" not "how DOES". Just because we're black don't mean we can't talk, and it doesn't mean we don't have any hair!

Because when the are little their parents do not but chemicals in their hair. ie like perms and dye. They mostly try to keep the childs hair braid all the time which helps the hair grow. But not all african american people or kids can wear braids. Also if their parents have good hair then more then likely they will too. But if you notice the older they get their hair seems to get damage because know they are able to put chemicals in their hair. And also african americans hair grows slower after it is cut so we are not likely to cut our hair as much as others.

When I was a kid my hair was shoulder length. This is what my mom did. She would braid my hair, not to tight though, put a hot oil treatment in my hair every couple of weeks, use fish oil on the hair and make sure it stayed clean. This took several years (from the time I was 7 until I turned 12). And this was after she put chemicals in my hair that broke it all off.

Strong genes. My mom took good care of my hair as well as my sisters hair and our hair has grown very long and thick. We have good genes and many of my other family members have beautiful hair. So taking care of it, and nit cutting it, isn't why black kids have long hair. Mostly it's because of good strong genes.
