If you rent a DVD, and then copy it. If you keep the copy for yourself is that legal?

no it is not legal, your gettting it for free(not including the rental fee) it is legal to make a copy of a dvd for your self if you bought the original

No, it's not. If you own a DVD, it's legal to make a backup copy for yourself. Since you don't own the DVDs you rent, it's not legal to copy them.

the only way copying a DVD is legal is if you are making a backup of a DVD that you have already paid for.

No. That is pyrating. All movies these days have a disclaimer at the beginning of the film stating that you can be fined as much ast $250,000 for making an illegal copy without prior written permission.

that's unlawful to burn any copyrighted fabric and now the industry has made it extra durable for persons to burn DVDs by employing putting copyright blocks on a majority of DVDs. employing condo shops to spice up your DVD series sounds innocuous considering the fact which you're no longer dispensing the flicks to others, in spite of if it costs the action picture industry thousands and thousands each and each year.
