I'm wondering if it's the first time, or you have so many chances before you do some time? Just curious! Thanks!

In Michigan. It's not me I promise. I have a co-worker/friend who keeps putting this man first in her life, he's been to jail and served 18 months. She has small children, he has no license, can't get one... and the killer is, she bought him a car! She doesn't really listen to reason because she thinks she can't live without him. None of her friends like him, and I would hate to see her keep wasting her own life away. Just wanted to give her some good sound advice. Thanks!

I guess it depends on what happens before you are caught.
If you are caught AFTER you kill someone...always a possibility when you do something stupid like drinking and driving, you'll go to jail.
If you don't manage to injure or kill anyone (or anything), you will probably get off the first time - but let's hope that the courts crack down on all cases of DUIs. The difference between tragedy and getting away with it...could be as little as a few inches.
Don't drink and drive - it just isn't worth it. The lives you risk (and damage) can't be fixed - you can't go back in time and undo the damage.

You would probably GO to jail on number one, but the question is for how long. We just had a guy around here arrested for DUI number 11 yesterday.

If I had my way...a person would go to jail the very first time and have their car impounded! Too many drunks cause accidents, which maim/kill others, while the drunk walks away with just a scratch! :)

Here in Houston, you get to visit the jail on your first offense.
