We think we should just save it up or give it to the church we used to belong to, even if we don't agree with everything about the church, what else can we do?

Can't you just give from your heart? There are so many people in need, children of God, and not just in a church building. The Salvation Army does a lot of good with the donations they receive. How about giving to St. Judes Children's Hospital? The work they do there is incredible. God is happy whenever you give of your time and money to those who need it.

May God Bless you.

What a coincidence... I'm stuck with the same question(except my husband does not believe in tithing). When I finally tried the new church around the corner ... I just gave them what I was saving . I'm not church hoping but I felt that I needed to give what I was holding on to ... Every church can use money.... I don't think God will be upset if you gave your tithe to this chuch or that one...(God loves a cheerful giver!) He understands. Until you find the right church, give what you have to whatever church you're in. I'll pray that God will provide us both with a good home church. -

My dad once stopped giving his tithe to the church b/c he didn't agree w/ what was going on in the church. As it turned out, money became very tight for him pretty soon. So he started giving back the tithe.
Lesson learned: That 10% is not your money, but God's. Give it to Him. It has nothing to do w/ the church, it's giving Him what belongs to Him.

Many people will find it ironic how money became tighter when he didn't give the tithe, but God doesn't need explanations, does He?

You can save it up and give it to the new church when you find one. I see nothing wrong w/ that. Or give it to the church you don't agree w/. Up to you, I guess.

God bless you.

give to the poor. Jesus is Lord. It is a sin to go to churuch!!!!!! haven't you read about the ecological damage we are doing by using lights, cars, CHURCHES?
Do You love Jesus? I assume you do. Interpreting Him correctly is imperative. Get out into the woods and IMITATE Him.
If I tell you never to run into the road and you misinterpret me and thought I said never run over a toad and you don't obey because of a misinterpretation, I don't care how much you love me child, you will still suffer BIG TIME.
Forget the money. Put your brain to use. Humans think learning is the means to an end, but it isn't. People will find moral behaviour and intelligent behaviour are one and the same.

Business growth 101: Profit & Non- for profit.

Profit seeks to grow and expand while non-for- profit seeks to have a zero sum balance.

Now, non-for profits can set up accounts for savings to grow into other organizations; providing their account can provide that zero sum gain. You may have dreams of expanding your church to a bigger building ... creating a soup kitchen tied to your church ... or woman's shelter tied to your church. If these are goals you have and want to do --- then start reasearching with your accountant what rules you need to abide by. Additionally, during the "Collections" you can send a second collection around for a specific cause like "Hurricane Relief", "Your new soup kitchen".

You can give it to a Christian charity or simply tithe to the church you are visiting. Even if you don't agree with everything they teach they will use that money wisely.

Why are you searching for a new Church to leave in the future? Why don't you go to the Church that Jesus started, the Catholic Church. Why don't you send the money to the Sisters of Charity (The Order of Mother Theresa's nuns) You don't have to be any certain denomination to help caring for the poorest of the poor.

>>what else can we do?<<

Giving 10% to God does not mean it must be funneled through a specific church. Use it to feed the hungry, shelter the homeless, clothe the naked, and educate the ignorant. Give it to a crisis pregnancy center and save babies.

If you really feel like you have a heart to give to God's kingdom now, you could always support a charity (Hospice and Salvation Army are good ones) or give to a missions fund to help the kingdom go all over the world

Saving it is a good idea - or can you give it to a local Christian radio station that feeds you spiritually and you feel would need it and would be a good steward of the donation.
Or, possibly a Christian homeless shelter?
Maybe a local Christian colllege? Pray for God's wisdom - He will direct you.

REVISED: Renee - I thought of another one. World VIsion. Perhaps you could support a child - or give to their general fund.
