I'm gonna call my baby girly due this week Sariah. How is it best written Sariah or Saraiah. It is said SA-RA-EYE-YAH. But I'm scared people seeing the name would call her SAR-RI-YAH. I want them to see the name Sariah and call her like seeing Saraya.. Best spelling?? I personally prefer Sariah. The other one has too many "a" 's. What do you think?

First of all, Sariah sounds like "psoriasis".

Second of all, it's extremely confusing. Imagine if YOUR name was Sariah. Everytime someone tries to say your name you have to correct them. Then, when you tell them your name you'll have to spell it for them since they won't have the slightest idea how to spell "Sariah". Imagine the first day of school when the teacher spells your name "Soria" or "Saraya" or "Saria" because she doesn't know how to spell it. These things get annoying REAL fast.

Stick with names that people have heard of. How about Sophia or Sara?

The spelling Sariah would phonetically be pronounced suh-rye-uh.

If you want people to (maybe) pronounce it the way you want:

Saraiah (sorry, you need the a's to pronounce it as you wish)
Sarah-Iya
Sarraeya

I'm sorry, but since it is an unusual name with an unusual spelling, it is going to be mispronounced and misspelled. Think about if you will be okay with that before you name her. If you can't imagine yourself correcting everyone all of the time, consider moving it to the middle name slot.

Good luck to you, and I hope this helps. :)

Well, the pronunciations sound pretty similar to me.

And Sariah would be a better way to spell it because I don't know about you, but I hate it when people mispronounce my name.

(But it's not their fault.)

I would pronouce Sariah like Mariah only with an "S." How about Sara-Aiya?

the second one goes along with how you want it pronounced the first isn't spelled right to sound that way. Too many A's or not if you don't want people calling her something else go with the second one.

You may want to think more about this name. People are NOT going to pronounce it the way you intend. My wife has a very similar name and people are always pronouncing it wrong which drives her crazy.

Saraiah seems to fit the phonics best.
