I was minding my own business at lunch a couple of weeks ago when a very pleasant elderly gentleman started a conversation with me. He talked about peace in the world, and the need for clear communication and empathy between nations and so on, and then mentioned he was a follower of Rev Sun Myung Moon, and a member of the Universal Peace Federation. He also, rather casually I thought, slipped in his objective of returning the world to "the way it was before the Fall of Man"...which gave me moer than a moment's pause. Now this nice gentleman is calling me and writing regularly to invite me to meetings. I've obviously tried the UPF website, but it seems as vague as my gentleman about what the organization's actual and spiritual objectives are. Can anyone enlighten me on this, or does anyone have experience of the UPF they could share? I mean, it's a given that they want universal peace, but what does that MEAN in the UPF's understanding of things?

Thanks for the answers here so far folks. Just to clarify - I'm not being seduced by anything. I'm not going to meetings, and I'm just curious what the motives and objectives of this group are. Personally I'm an atheist. Seemed a bit odd to be actively seeking the "world before the Fall" so I wondered if anyone had heard more about their objectives. Some good insights already into these here. Thanks again.

August 17, 1990 the headline of the San Francisco Chronicle read "Rev. Moon Says He's the Messiah." He declared himself the new world messiah. He surrounds himself with swamis, scholars, lamas, and imams. He is the Korean founder of the Unification Church stating that Jesus failed in His mission and Moon is replacing Jesus.

In Matthew 24 the disciples came to Jesus and asked Him as question that was perplexing them. As He was sitting on the Mount of Olives the disciples cam to Jesus privately saying, "When will these things be? And what will be the sign of Your coming and of the end of the age? Jesus answered "Watch out that no one deceives you. For many will come in My name, claiming, I am the Christ and will deceive many. Matthew 24:4,5

You are being seduced by a FALSE PROPHET. The Bible tells us peace will not come until Jesus returns. Israel will sign a peace agreement, but it will last only 3-1/2 years then all hell will break loose on earth.

Jesus said when they say "Hear is the Messiah (Christ) or there he is" don't believe them. When Jesus returns everyone will see it, the sky will roll back like a scroll. That would be hard to miss.

Overthrowing a ruthless dictator = undesirable. contained in the approach the Bush years, they continually mocked the administration for putting such an emphasis on terrorism. Now, we are waiting to Afghanistan and they are valuable with that with assistance from using undeniable actuality that is shrink than Obama. also with assistance from using actuality "it is the position Bin laden truly is". each and every of the libs, threat-free practices rigidity ideas-set geniuses. We knew the position he grew to change into too even as the Sudan supplied him to the U.S. on an similar time as Clinton grew to change into as a change of work. they're fickle. They waived flags with something human beings the days after 9/11 then grew to change right into a 100 80 levels interior the six months to stay with, calling our troops murderers, etc. Fickle, elitist, hypocritical liberals. That is the type of group I would distance myself from, they sound good but their motives are unclear. Many are fooled by things that seem good.
