There is a second cat who used to be ok, but is now also hissing at me. Are they sick, or do they just not like me? The female was fixed a couple weeks ago, and was fine around my family, but not me. now she is attacking both my mom and I. I'm a little worried. Can anyone help me?

Cat's have a strong sense of social structure and it's all about rank. The best way to get them in line is to pull rank on them and your sister can help. When you go over to her place your sister needs to greet you with a great big hug etc. She needs to push the cat away if it tries to get in on the business--this shows that you out rank the cat. Have her hold the cat down on the floor. Just gently push the cat into a reclined position. Then you take over and hold the cat down for just a few seconds. All the time talk kindly and lovingly telling him he's gorgeous etc. but you're top cat! Don't be rough and don't hurt it just make it hold still for a few seconds. Do this every time you two meet. If it ever wants to sit near you make sure your head is above his and lay an arm over him because this also denotes the whole social structure thing. A good healthy cat needs this constant assurance of where he stands in the scheme of things. They are big social climbers!

I have two cats and anytime strangers come in they'll try to pull rank if I don't do these things. I always have kids do the whole holding them down thing right away so that the cats get a clear message of where they are and we've had very very few incidents of hissing.

It's very odd behavior for a cat. I only had one cat, who hated my ex, and that was because he tortured the poor creature. Usually when cats don't like you, they avoid you, and will pee all over something they know is yours. I think I would call the vet and see what they think about this sudden change in behavior. If these were feral (wild) cats, that have been brought into the household, they may have learned to trust your sister, but may never trust anyone else.

You should probably tell your sister about this. If she doesn't do any thing the cat will keep on attacking you.
