Phil did not see his shadow, which means an early spring. Of course 3 days after that is was Minus 10 in Chicago. I have to Edit. The answer above mine says he saw his shadow. Not Correct. You must have misread on the web.

See Shadow = 6 More Weeks of Winter
Don't See Shadow = Early Spring.

Doesn't make sense to me either. If it's Sunny --- More Winter...OK.

Phil died, froze to death. He was replaced by Bob. Bob has more fur than Phil, so it is hard to tell if he really knows weather like Phil did. Bob did not see his shadow, but rumors have it that Bob really needs corrective lenses. This means nothing, unless you are a female groundhog, and you were smitten with the handsome Bob. Now you would have to face the fact that your kids you two would have would need glasses, and you would always wonder if they were slow and retarded. But, you would have to be a groundhog to know.

Punxsutawney Phil didn't see his shadow; I haven't checked on the other rodent reports. That's supposed to mean an early spring, like they're having in Chicago right now. :p

So much for using vermin as weathermen.
