It is my experience as a liscensed, practicing cosmetologist that red hair looks best on those who naturally have it. It is very, very hard to achieve the correct tone for some one who does not have natural red hair, especially if they are trying to achieve it themselves. If you want to enhance your hair, maybe a few blonde highlights(like the sun would give you) would be your best bet.

When it comes to dyeing hair, there are a few things you should keep in mind.

-If you're looking into lightening your hair (which you may or may not be, when moving from medium brown to red), any dye which contains bleach will be very hard on your hair.
Now, this doesn't mean don't do it :-) I love coloring my hair, but I STRONGLY recommend you pick up a thick, good conditioner such as Pantene's Color Revival to maintain a normal texture to your hair.

-The color combination you've given for your hair/eyes/skin is a very beautiful one (think spunky Irish girl). If YOU want that look, you should go for it. It's one I've always loved. :-)

-If you can afford it, go see a stylist! They really know what they're doing, and putting on hair dye yourself can be a huge pain (not to mention a good way to ruin clothes, carpet or anything else it gets on). They can also help you in the area of making your color choices (and they have much better quality dyes on hand then what you'll find in stores).

-Another tip: try hightlights; they really help pull a new hair color together. And without them, you run the risk of your dye job looking like a wig.

-Lastly, remember, your hair will always grow back. :) If you don't like it, you can always redye your hair a darker color and wait a few months and try something new!

Red tones are the hardest to pull out of your hair. Unless you actually have natural red hair, there is a chance it might not go red.. or that it will wash out after a few showers/baths.

Honestly, reconsider going red. If do DO want to go red, have it done PROFESSIONALLY. They will help you determine what color is the best shade for you, too!

I also have pale skin and medium brown hair. I have dyed my hair a dark auburn and it looked very good. Or you could get some natural looking reddish highlighs it might look good too.
I would suggest that before you ever permenantly dye it, you sould dye it with the wash out kind just in case it looks horrible. cuz if you do permenant, and it looks bad, then you have to either wait for your hair to grow out or, keep dying it to fix it.

Don't change your hair color! That can really mess things up! Just leave your hair to be! People don't understand that you can damage your hair that way! SO BE SMART AND DON"T DYE YOUR HAIR!!!

if it is a medium brown don't change the colour just add a strike style or highlight e.g. medium brown---with a little bit of in the mids.---lighter brown

i think red will look great :) If not, you can always dye it back. It's just hair!
