Australia knows how to do it!

Muslims who want to live under Islamic Sharia law were told on Wednesday to get out of Australia, as the government targeted radicals in a bid to head off potential terror attacks.

Treasurer Peter Costello, seen as heir apparent to Howard, hinted that some radical clerics could be asked to leave the country if they did not accept that Australia was a secular state, and its laws were made by parliament. "If those are not your values, if you want a country which has Sharia law or a theocratic state, then Australia is not for you", he said on National Television.
"IMMIGRANTS, NOT AUSTRALIANS, MUST ADAPT. Take It Or Leave It. I am tired of this nation worrying about whether we are offending some individual or their culture. This is OUR COUNTRY, OUR LAND, and OUR LIFESTYLE, and we will allow you every opportunity to enjoy all this, you can either change accordingly or take advantage of one other great Australian freedom,
THE RIGHT TO LEAVE!

I am absolutely with you on this one. I hadnt heard that from Australia, but I think we should all adapt similar takes on this, and not just for muslims. If you or I decided to up and move to say China, you would learn Chinese, learn their culture and traditions because you chose to move to China and you know what that means.

The problem with America (and Canada -- where I'm from) is that we are full of "Human Rights". Unfortunately being a country that is big on human rights and providing liberties for everyone of all race, colour, religion, belief, etc...just does not allow us to say something like the Aussies. We may say it in our minds, but we cannot say it out as law.

In fact even if some people were to say it out loud in a public place, it could incite a riot where people would be dragging out lawyers and the like.

Beyond the radical religious fanatics, I believe this should go to all immigrants. BTW...I get to say this because I AM an immigrant (so I am not a racist here). I find that immigrants that come over to this FREEDOM LAND but refuse to take up any of the lifestyle and cultural aspects just pisses me off.

People want the freedom from persecutions and the better medical opportunities, but refuse to learn and speak English.

People refuse to follow the common courtesy that needs to exist for metropolitan living -- like littering, pushing / rushing to be the 1st to get on the bus, etc...

I know that in their old country, things are tougher and if you did not fight for it, you might not get it. BUT that is why they left that country and came here...that is what they wanted...life without fighting and being able to live harmonously with others.

Then why are they NOT doing that? Why keep all these OLD ways and then hide behind "Freedom of Speech" and "Human Rights" whenever someone questions them? That really peeves me.

This isn't the only country to issue this warning. The Netherlands have also employed similar techniques - though not nearly as direct - to weed out those who would want to bring irrational and obsolete views of the world into their country. They have videos showing gay lovers kissing in public and women walking around topless and if you find that offensive, they will deny you the opportunity to work or live there. Period.

However, I've seen similar statements coming from those with other obsolete views within the USA who claim that this is their country and etcetera. So while I do agree that people should not tolerate those obviously obsolete views, let us not forget that it is the responsibility of the mainstream to continually defend their social positions through rational discourse. If the mainstream can no longer defend their views rationally, then perhaps the "mainstream" views have indeed become obsolete and thus it becomes the new responsibility of the people to understand their obsolescence and find a better way of doing things and not drag their feet socially; Conserving their stances to the point of social and political stagnation.

Hooray for the Aussies. Apparently their leaders have decided to put the citizens of the country before the rights of a bunch of foreigners. I commend them for this stand!

We have Muslims living under Sharia law?

I certainly haven't heard of it.

Muslim is fine, but Sharia law is unconstitutional.
