From this very short video, what is your opinion (theists, agnostics and atheists alike) on taking "In God we Trust" off of our (American) currency?

From the video, it is NOT an illegal act and is done in order to make the money "fit to be reissued in our secular, church-state-separated nation".

* You may read up on here WHY the phrase "In God we Trust" was added to our currency in the first place.

http://www.reference.com/browse/wiki/In_God_We_Trust

* To all of you who say "who cares?" Would you care if, instead, it said "In Allah we Trust" or "In Satan we Trust" or "In Santa Claus we Trust"?

* ac28, atheists do not make up a mere 5% of the U.S. population. They actually make up closer to 10%.

It's just ironic that a government that wants strict separation of church and state would so willingly put "In God we Trust" on all of our money. So they do have a point.

I have been saying this for a long long time. That phrase has only been on our money for about half a century. It was not originally there. It was not supposed to be there. The reason for it being there has passed. Of course it should be removed.

History:
The phrase "In God We Trust" was added during the Cold War. It was a push to make the US seem different from the USSR. Communism did not support religions so therefore we would. That was when the phrase was added. The phrase "Under God" was also added to the pledge of alleigance. The Cold War is over. The USSR is gone. The are plenty of other Christian nations. One of the greatest things about this country is its seperation of Church and State. Yet our very money clearly refutes that. It is time to lose that phrase from our money and the pledge of allegiance. Let's be the nation we were supposed to be.

Messed up. I think that it has historical sygnificants. It was an original design and letters they put there, we should respect how it was in the first place.. keep some of our history.

I so agree with Jeancommu!

why take out something positive? what is so horrible about it? if you dont belive in God, So what? its not forced on you. so stop all this complaining. In God we Trust is an american thing. Everyone knows it. You cant just get rid of it. The reason we came here in the first place was religion. so stop with seperation of church and government. Why do they let bad stuff in the government, and schools but not something that is good,? it doesnt make sense anymore.

Okay, if its really that important for Christians that it stays.....then IT SHOULD STILL GO!! Do you really need money to do the preaching for you. These people are right about the separation of church and state. Just the same as religious people do not want their rights impeded, non-believers feel the same way. No one in America (particularly government) has the right to force their personal beliefs on others. But this works both ways. I can't force you from your church and you can't force me in to church. In addition, having 'In God We Trust' printed on U.S. property (money, flags) is the same as having 'Property of the U.S. Government' printed on bibles and hymnals, and posted on every church. Doesn't seem fair does it. Government; keep your politics Washington...where it belongs. Stay away from religion, you have no right use or abuse it. People of faith; keep your faith in church...where it belongs. If you're here in America you should take some time to read the Constitution. You shouldn't need things like this to re-affirm your religious convictions.

Why would you even want to change a good thing? In God We Trust has been the American way as long as anyone living can remember. My parents believed that trusting God was our protection and provision in America. If we didn't trust God to protect and provide we would be attacked and suffer hunger.

Keep removing God from everything and you will be going hungry in America and you will not be free and you will be serving the Islamic terrorists living among us. Are we so ignorant not to know that the USA is only great because of the God we trust?

Well the US motto was changed to"in god we trust" what was it back in the 50's? People has gotten so accustomed to thinking that the "god" part in the DOI is the christian version of god. However if you read the DOI closely it does not tell specific what religion it means. I do not think it should be on there, and it does not have anything to do with me not being christian. for that matter I could claim that was is said in the Dec of ind (DOI) that the natures god could be in the pagan religion.
It should not be on there imo.that is like forcing god upon everyone.
If someone who truely believes in god, then they do not need it printed on paper. or coins.

EDIT: I was mistaking on the year. but here is a link that has some decent info about it.

First of all religion (God) should not be part of Satan's world
Jesus said that he is no part of this world so his followers should be no part also.
Satan temped Jesus with the kingdoms (governments) of this world. This proves that he (Satan) is the ruler of all governments.
Why the world paints God as a cruel God is because Satan is the god of this system and he uses religion to confuse people in believing what they say by adding false teachings and saying it's from Gods word.

Why are all the Libs on here still picking on Palin. I mean seriously, how many times do you have to have it explained that she may have said it a little awkward, but she was absolutely right in what she said. If Obama had said it all the Libs would praise him for being so very intelligent. By the way if his teleprompter ever blew a fuse he may not be heard from for days.

Personally, I don't really care what's printed on our (USA) money as long as I can spend it! I do find it interesting that it wasn't actually printed on our paper money until the late 1950's to contradict Russia's atheistic culture during the Cold War, and therefore really has nothing to do with "the principles our country was FOUNDED on" as so many people like to say.

I didn't go check out the video but there is no reason for 'In God We Trust' to be on US currency. To me it's a huge violation of church/state separation.

Those who trust in God don't need it printed on their money.
