You can live in West New York, Guttenberg, Union City, Weehawken, Hoboken, Jersey City. The NJ Transit bus lines are reliable and if you live in West New York, Guttenburg, Weehawken you can take the $2 buses straight into the city (42nd street), and they run all night. Hoboken and Jersey City are great because you have the Path train. I hope this helps!

Jersey City is the closest to New York City. You could actually see Jersey City across from New York City.

I love Hoboken..It's great. It is right on the river and is like its own little town with a ton of restaurants. Also, I live in the Port Imperial area and I absolutely love it. It is right on the water, 3 minutes down river from Hoboken. There are a ton of new apartment buildings on the water. There are ferry terminals in both Port Imperial and Hoboken.
