It's not against the law, but we get so much grief because of the actions of those radical groups in the Middle East that have decided to wage war against each other and the ideals of the USA.

NO NO NO it is not against the law to be ANY religion in America. It is one of the basic freedoms outlined in the Bill of Rights. Muslims get so much "grief" because ignorant people don't understand the religion. They look at the radical Muslims and assume that all Muslims are the same way, with the same beliefs, etc. Lets look at a religion you may be more familiar with. Within Christianity there are many different belief sects. Protestans and Catholics being the big division. There are many radical Christians and Jews. George W Bush, for instance, is an example of a radical Christian. The Israeli government is an example of radical Judaism. The fact that you even have to ask that if you are older than 12 is just a sad refelection on the ignorance, hatred and bigotry that has become America's image to the world. Please try to be informed-these things are not just a topic for some show on TV.

Of course it's not against the law. But like any group that is not white and Christian, they will get grief for being different. Shamefully, racism and bigotry still lives on quite prevalently in America and unfortunately due to the actions of the Muslim extremists, life is being made even more difficult for the average Muslim who just wants to live life in peace.

I'm Canadian, and became a Muslim 6 years ago. It is pretty weird to be treated differently by my own people, but hey I'm very happy about my decision.
I think there are a lot of bad organizations out there trying to weaken Islam (including the devil and those who work for him), so we have a lot sources working to try to destroy our image.
There are a lot of political issues too, so I'm even to scared to mention them over the Internet. My husband and I have such a hard time at the border whenever we want to go to the States, that now it's just not worth going shopping there anymore. Before becoming a muslim, I never has problems at the border! It's really not fair, considering that the majority of Muslims are very peace-loving people who don't cause any trouble.

No it not, nor should it be against the law to be a Muslim in the United States. There is a Muslim in the U.S. Congress. Rep. Keith Ellison of Minnesota's fifth district. He even took the oath of office on a copy of the Koran that belonged to Thomas Jefferson, our third President.
As to the second part of your question. I believe that Muslims receive so much grief because there is an element of prejudice and bigotry spawned by the hate-filled propoganda being spewed forth by the White House and the current administration. This admin. has called certain nations "The Axis of Evil" and has indicated that Muslims are the enemy and to be feared. The President himself name calls people and stereotypes them by religion alone without any basis in fact. The reason that other people follow his lead is because they are sheep.

It's not against the law.
However, there is a lot of political and cultural pressure on Muslims in the US.
Lots of racism, ignorance (Sikhs are often mistaken for Muslims), and evangelical zeal make it tough...
