Just trying to get a sense of what most people like. If you were to go with just a single 12" sub, what would YOU rather house it in: a sealed box, a ported box, or a bandpass, and (briefly) why ?

It all depends on the type of sound you want, for great bass use a sealed box, if you want it a different type kind of more true bass, use a ported box. This also depends on the type of vehicle you have, if you are putting subs in the trunk of a car, you might want a sealed box, thats what i have and it sounds great.

i would recommend a ported. my opinion is that is sounds better then a sealed box and is smaller then a bandpass box. To make it easier look for the cons and pros of the different type of boxes on the net. try the learning center of www.crutchfield.com or www.circuitcity.com

hope this was helpful

For a tighter clean bass, sealed. For more of a boomy bass, ported.

Sealed enclosures tend to give the sub better power handling whereas ported can damage a sub more easily if constructed improperly.

No enclosure is magic.

Boss CAP10 10 Farad Capacitor replace into great difficulty-free to place in. Comes with all of the stuff you choose. is particularly cool whilst it extremely is lit up and and the digital gauge is surprisingly neat to. Charging it earlier installation replace into extremely difficulty-free too. merely stick to the guidelines. thoroughly stopped my headlights and gauges from dimming and my subs and all around stereo is plenty purifier and crisp. mind-blowing product at an wonderful cost. merely purchase the the superb option length for the amp which you have. yet another post and slightly examine confirmed me that for each 500 watts you choose a million farad in capacitance. you could not have too plenty capacitance so being that my amp is a 2000 watt amp i bought the ten farad, stable success with notwithstanding product you purchase yet I even have had stable success with this one and have confidence it extremely is unquestionably very well worth the money.

None of the above. I'd go free air. Although it will not hit as hard you will get better extension and acuracy. Boxes are tricky and all too often you get unwanted resonances.
