I have more or less the same design as you describe and my walls are the very lightest taupe colour. This enhances the black furniture in a calming way and my african wall figures which hang on the wall look pretty good to against this colour. Class will always tell!

Why not paint your accent wall a chocolate brown then group your pictures/masks together and 'frame' them with a lighter colour block say dulux cookie dough and also paint the rest of the walls in cookie dough colour. NICE

On the accent wall: a crackle, it will simulate an animal print.
Make sure the crackle is one step. The crackle medium should go between the base coat and the top coat.
1. base coat: black
2. Next coat is the crackle medium.
3. Top coat a gold color.
Paint the remaining walls the same gold color.
Have fun!

Light brown, at least 1 shade darker than the taupe. Don't want it too dark, but the green is to predictable.

Get the dulux and crown paint swatch books. They give ideas of rooms painted and furnished differently. I find them really helpful and often realise a colour I had in mind would look hideous or then consider a colour I hadn't really thought of. Dulux also do an online paint system where you can change the colour of walls, paintwork etc to see what effect it gives. Try it, it's good.

You can't go wrong with pale colours. As you have a lot of art I would suggest an off white with just a hint of cream of even a slight suggestion of peach. This should show off your art collection nicely. Don't go too dark or the whole room may just look drab.

get rid of the forest green. Oranges (not bright), browns and yellows would compliment the decor.

Call your local decorator and ask the question. For a small fee he/ she would probably call round and give advice, based on many years of experience.
