Okay, so my boyfriend just proposed to me (I guess that makes him my fiance now). I want to get a tattoo for him. I don't want to get his name at all. I was thinking maybe each of our birth flowers intertwined on my foot, but does anyone have other ideas? He is 1/2Pacific Islander & 1/2 Irish (interesting combo I know!), so maybe something to do with his heritage? IDK, but Im up for suggestions that will hopefully get my brain ticking. Thanks!

Oh and I am not looking for your opinions on tattoos and how tacky they are and how you shouldn't get a tattoo for a boyfriend/girlfriend, so please don't tell me that cr*p.

the birth flowers are a good idea. i'm glad you're not getting his name. that only leads to trouble. the flowers you can pull off if your relationship ends. hopefully it won't, but if it does...
maybe you guys have a hobby in comman, etc. if you want to get something from his heritage, go for it, but just remember, it's not your heritage, just your fiance.
spend some time looking at different things. make sure it's something that you want on your body for the rest of your life.
congrats!

Well, I think its good that you are choosing symbolism over names. (I hate thinking the worst of relationships, but it can happen). I'm trying to find something to represent the love I have for my man, who is also my best friend in the world, but coming short of ideas for that.

I like the idea of flowers and other birthday month symbols, but you could always just find an image that both of you like and go with that. Find a common ground in interests and hobbies and maybe try to get a tattoo of that.

I would stay clear of the heritage tattoos because its HIS, not yours and (if) something happens, you might not be thrilled to have it around.

I wish you luck finding a tattoo and congrats on the engagement!

why dont you ask your fiance... maybe you could design a tattoo together. then it would really be about both of you... maybe visit a tattoo shop and look at all their designs for ideas.. with your partners amazing heritage there should be heaps of options, why stop at one....in the end it really is down to personal choice as you are the person who has to be happy with it and wear it for life. it took me 6 months to choose my first tat and then another 8 years before i found the design of my second. after all you are going to be together foreva so you have plenty of time to make or choose a design.

I really like the flower idea that you have. Instead of getting a tattoo for just him I like the idea of getting two symbols intertwined that symbolizes both of you. maybe both of your birth signs intertwined or two koi fish intertwined (that means eternity)

What is your heritage? Maybe a tattoo combining a flower from the Island he comes from, a shamrock and something that represents your culture?

I think that is sweet!!

Why don't you get a heart with his initials in it, maybe on your stomach/ankle/foot? Or maybe you can get a tattoo of his favourite animal on it...

Congrats on the wedding!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
