Or do i need to do anything special, like sending it registered or certified mail.

Also the mailing address for Ohio is just: Kansas City, MO
64999-0115
Does that make any sense to anybody?

P.S. Don't tell me to e-file as a solution.

The thing about the address that I don't understand is why there isn't a street address or P.O. Box. Is it supposed to be like that.

The mailing address for Ohio is

INTERNAL REVENUE SERVICE CENTER
Kansas City, MO 64999-xxxx with the xxxx depending on what form you are filing and whether or not you are enclosing a check.

The first five digits of the zip code get it to the right branch post office. They figure it out from there - don't need a street address. I'm sure they have a huge set of bins that the tax returns go into.

That is the whole address, believe it or not. It goes to a special box or location and the post office is aware of it. Just sending it USPS should be fine, no need to pay for UPS or anything.

If you did not get an envelope with your form already addressed to the IRS, you can make your own and send it First Class Mail. USPS.

Look at it this way: if you DON'T send it with "something special" it it never makes it there, what proof will you offer the IRS if they don't get it?

You should, at the very least, send it with return receipt. That way, if you don't get the receipt in a few weeks (give them time), you can always re-send.

Better is to send certified, which is proof, signed by the USPS, that you actually sent it.

It's worth the few dollars for the peace of mind.

Yes, first class mail is fine, although if you want proof it was received you could send it registered.

KC, MO is the central office for your area. Of course, you'll put IRS as the addressee.

The post office knows where to send it.

If you are worried about whether they actually received it, you will know if you get your expected refund, or if your check is cashed if you owed money.
