maybe try using a soap that doesn't contain salicylic acid every other day. sometimes salicylic acid will dry out your skin (when what your skin REALLY needs is moisture), causing more breakouts. so it pretty much counteracts your attempts if you use it everyday. also, i'm not sure what you wash your face with but if you're using a rag, that's a major no-no. germs and cells from your acne stay on the rag you use and are put right back on your face the next time you wash your face. so that could be a factor, as well.
after you wash your face, use a toner. after using a toner (neutrogena works wonders), moisturize. this is where many ladies go wrong. this is the prime time for moisturizing... right now. every morning, and every night. lotion. otherwise, once your acne heals up, you'll have double the wrinkles, and a horrible case of scars.
and there are quite a few facial lotions that will help your acne problem.
there is a line of products called "Arbonne" not sure if you have heard of it, but it's pretty much miraculous.
but as far as the ProActive goes... it's a great product to use, too.
but until you get the ProA solution, follow these steps. i promise they will work.
good luck!

Stuff like proactive works but you don't really need it or any perscription, you just need to invest in higher quality stuff.
Make sure to keep washing your face twice daily with non-drying face wash because dry skin makes oil glands in your skin work harder, thus creating acne.
That also means you need to put lotion on your face.
Also scrub your face one or two times a week, any more will dry out your skin to quickly, but it's good to do to get the dead skin and dirt out of your pores.
Try investing in better stuff though, something you would find at a day spa like Pevonia Botanica. It is more expensive but it is also highly concentrated so it lasts a lot longer than something you would find at a grocery store.

Proactive never worked for my daughter it made it worse, and I have seen a lot of other posts on yahoo that say the same about it. I tried a line that worked for my daughter you can look it up on beeroyalproducts.com it the bee-luscious medicated acne line.
It cleared my daughter up quick and now she uses just as a routine daily. I swear by these products. Also get on a good diet eat green leafy vegetables and salads this will help you clean up from the inside out as well ...good luck

Try the acne line by Bee-Luscious Cosmetics. It is sulfur based unlike Proactiv that is benzoyl peroxide based (the same stuff as Clearasil). It is the best over the counter product I have found. You can find it at www.beeroyalproducts.com.
