Also i wanted to take care of some coyotes in my yard. Is a .22 Long rifle too little? what range should i keep shots inside of?

Well sort of, the 22mag is on the light side even at a close range. With the 270win you can get some light factory loads for those sized varmints

If you're just doing a little pest control the .270 is fine. The .22 is not enough gun. If you wound the coyote with the .22 you will not get a second shot. Those critters are FAST. The .270 will anchor the animal or slow it down enough for the follow up shot.

The .270 is a bit of an over-kill for coyotes but okay. The .22 LR has been killing coyotes for years. Use quality hollow point ammo (no subsonic loads) and try for head shots. Keep the shots within fifty yards and you should do will. The .22 Magnum is an ideal coyote gun for up to 75 or so yards.

The .270 is not too much unless you want to seel the hides. The .22 long rifle is all you need for coyotes up to about 80 yards, and my 10/22 does great with PMC Sidewinders. They will pop the coyote's skull. Aim for the base of the ear, or if it is facing you between his beady eyes.

A .270 is fine and so is .22 mag, but if you looking for the ultamate coyote gun I would go with a 22-250 or a .223.

a .270 isn't too small for coyotes and a .22 mag will get the job done.

a .270 is not to much. However it might be if you are trying to salvage the hide. Of course if you pop it in the head, you will have no problem. But good luck at getting a shot at a coyote who will stand still for you.

no way is a .270 too much firepower. I use a 7mm mag. it can shoot long ranges and still hit them with tons of power. U can use a 22 mag if u dont feel like inflicting maximum damage.

NO a .270 is not to much. .22 mag is fine at short range,
take a head shot!
